Default Some common sense regarding downtime and loot weekends.

Due to real-life constraints, most DDO subscribers are on a weekly schedule, playing at the same time on the same days each week. For most people, this is evening and weekends. The players most affected by the recent extended downtime (and every other scheduled downtime for that matter) are those who play primarily late at night, and on Mondays. So why the heck are you providing the "mob appeasement gifts" on a weekend??

Turbine, I understand that bringing the servers down on Monday mornings makes sense, in that server population is at it's lowest. However please realize you are consistently interrupting the play of the same people every time. You don't have to search very hard to find a thread by an Australian, or a bartender that will attest to that. Why not rotate the maintenance to a Wednesday every other downtime? The total number of players affected might be marginally higher, but for those players that ARE affected, over time, their downtime will be CUT IN HALF.

Furthermore, PLEASE be sure to extend the upcoming loot "weekend" into Monday night, so that the subscribers that were most affected by the data center transfer might actually be able to attend the apology.

    Thanks in advance,
    Cord

They usually don't take it down until Monday morning US which should get you through Monday nightish in Australia. Isn't 7Am east coast like 10PM on the east coast of Australia? Which would give you roughly 10pm Saturday night through 10pm Monday night to get the bonus. Also, typically they start it on Friday, which would give you all day Saturday. Who knows if that will hold true this time.

Anyway, although I agree that normally Aussies get screwed by downtime, this one was an equal opportunity downtime, affecting all time zones at some point or another, and for significant amounts of all time zones. For example, I live in the pacific and I lost 2 full nights basically while I think most of the US only lost 1 full night.

My guess is that when something breaks, they want to fix it before the weekend. Having Wednesday updates means that there's 2 less days to fix DDO before the weekend.

And we know every major new update ends up having problems or breaking the game.
Thanks for the long time forum user purge of Aug '10 (Sarcasm for those who don't get it)

Sure, the Wednesday suggestion was in regards to the bi-weekly regular maintenance downtimes. For major updates , it would be completely understandable to stick to Mondays.
