Ataro, a reflection peice on my 14/2 barbarian.

I see lots of posts on how TWF could work with barbarians, here is my take at one.


Ataro , a TWF human barbarian

Human, 14 barbarian , 2 fighter

Stats

Str, 32 (32 unbuffed+10 barbarian raged+2 rage pot+4 madstones+8choker=56)
Dex, 22
Con, 26 (26 unbuffed+9 barbarian raged+2 rage pot+8 madstone+8choker=53)(54 with a +3 tome)
Int, 8
Wis, 8
Cha, 8

Feats:
1: Toughness
1: E: Khopesh
3: TWF
6: OTWF
9: At first I took IC:S, once I had my Min2 Khopeshs I swaped it out for PA.
12: ITWF
15: GTWF
15(Fighter) IC:P
16(Fighter) Stunning Blow

Skill points:
Now being a human barbarian I was getting 4 skill points a level, and really didn't see it worth it to eat a +2int tome. Now you could argue eating one if you wanted somthing that I didn't do...

I maxed balance,jump,intimidate and 1 point into tumble, the rest UMD.

Reasons for intimidate are kinda simple, I wanted to be able to pull jumk mobs off clerics, casters, other gimp tanks ...I find it very usefull

Intimidate breakdown:
19 ranks
2 from the AP line
4 GH
15 item (helm)
6 cha skills item (Cloak), swap on when I need that extra 6 points.
=46, which isn't to bad for a barbarian who isn't really a intimi tank.

Now I did take 2 lvls of fighter seeing as none of the barbarian cap stones really looked worth it for me on this build, I think that the fighter haste boost, 2 feats and the extra str point looked much better.


Gear setup:

Helm: Minos Legens

Necklace: Finger Necklace (Healing amp 10%)

Trinket: Voice of the Master,Bloodstone (Swaping between when I don't have my Deathnip inuse)

Cloak: Triple Pos SP cloak, and a HP cloak(Swaping between when I feel the need to intimidate)

Belt: Disease Immunity Belt of Greater False Life

Ring slot #1: Circle of Hatred, Jump 11 of Feath falling

Gloves: Spectral Gloves

Boots: Striding 30%, Firestorm Greaves (Swaping between when I feel the need) , Madstoneboots.

Ring slot #2: Health Ring (+6)

Bracers: Levik's Bracers (Healing amp 20%, str +6)

Armor: Dragontouched Vestments: I really had a lot of fun making all of these for Ataro
-I did 5 Dragontouched Vestments with the all 5 of the resists so I don't have to depend on a cleric/caster for them.
-Now on these 5 Dragontouched Vestments for the Sovereign Runes I have, Smite,Radiance Guard,Destruction,Earthgrab Guard and Air guard.

I also have several of the Cloth of the Faithful, for the Nightsheild clickies.

Goggles: Tharne's Goggles

Good build to bad the person playing it made it sound so cute by making it a female. human rage is funny but the female rage it even better.

personal note: switch IP:slashing to IP: piercing when ya have your 2 min IIs

How did you NOT take power attack on a barb?

I had been going on my notes of the build as I lvled up, forgot the I had swaped out for PA once higher in lvl, fixed now.

as to the Stunning blow, I find that if I have a weighted 5% war hammer in my off hand I can stun just about anything, and with a wop rapier in the other hand with a 13-20 crit range with it

OTWF was taken at low lvls to help just a bit more, and there isnt really anything I can think of off the top of my head to take.

So thats One fighter level ya didnt need. add in the fact that we'll get another feat at level 18 and now you have 2 Fighter levels that do absolutely nothing for you but prevent you from obtaining your best Rage and capstone Enhancment.

so Thats One Fighter Level Ya Didnt Need. Add In The Fact That We'll Get Another Feat At Level 18 And Now You Have 2 Fighter Levels That Do Absolutely Nothing For You But Prevent You From Obtaining Your Best Rage And Capstone Enhancment.

also, haste boost is nice if you use it while your doing nothing.. Inthe midts of a long fight (Like most boss fights) the time delay in activating it doesnt do you any good.

ALso, You have an eror in your STR calculation in the build. there is a level of Scorge Boost that dose not stack with Madstone.

Probably not though since your so incredibly uber..... I doubt anyone can grab aggro from you.

This might be a philosophy difference, but as a barb, most of the time I don’t want aggro. If you have aggro you get hit more, take more damage and need more heals. That’s what a good intim tank is for. Or if you have great dps circled all around a boss like Big Red you can get him spinning as each DPS takes aggro for a moment, which again alleviates too much damage on any one individual. That being said, I run a 14/2 barb fighter as well and love the haste boost, and have to disagree that the 10 second cool down is that big a problem in a 2-4 min boss end fight. It beats NOT doing the extra damage for 20 seconds 3-5 times.

When Mod 9 goes live, the 18/2 or maybe 14/6 builds will certainly be viable. They just might not be worth doing on a fresh build.

I'm pretty sure big red's aggro is random no matter what you do. He just likes to spin.

There is such a thing. It's a barbarian or Tempest III or Kensai III with intimidate dealing out the TWF DPS.

how are you getting madstone rage if you dont have the boots? It doesnt seem to be in your gear list.
