    Default Help for (relative) noob...

Recently restarted DDO again after a *long* (2 yr) absence. I have no idea what relative values for items are anymore, so I'm kinda looking for some guidance. I've picked up a few reasonably decent items (or so I'm told) along my way to 16. I need a +2 INT tome for the first alt I'm making. Could any helpful people tell me if any of these items could get that for me? Again...I'm not offering any trades in particular, just trying to get a valuation of a few items I've picked up.

    +1 WoP dagger
+5 banishing dagger (L16, RR human)
+6 STR belt with haste (L15, RR dwarf)
    Wiz VII ring
Blindness ward goggles of divine power 5x
    Disease Immunity Belt of GFL

I know the WoP has some value...does anything else?
Since I am unable to make one of those cool character graphical sigs cuz the user CP says I have no characters, I will tell you in boring 10-pt Arial that I am:

    DON'T SELL THE WoP!!!

THe blindess Ward goggles aren't worth much past their base price.

THe banisher I'd keep for the Vale.

+6 STR belt 25k plat maybe higher

WIZ VII ring is another thing I would keep

GFL belt I would keep, too.

WoP worth way more than an INT tome, perhaps 3x (and it is a LOT harder to come by)
The banisher is nice, but nothing too special since most end game types have little problem hitting anyway (making the +5 a minor perk).

STR belt is nice with the Haste Kicker, but the problem is there are so many other things to put in the belt slot (like your other belt) and it is easy to find +6 Strength items and pots to do the haste. (Would sell for more than base, but not huge amounts more.)
Wiz VII ring, very nice, and should hold onto.
Blindness Ward with DP goggles are a nice combo for anyone without a FULL BAB character, but that limits the market. (My Ranger/Rogue uses his everytime he hits a Manyshot for example). But it falls way short of a tome. You can often find them right at the Rusty Nail vendors for example.

The DI/GFL belt is nice, about the only combo that is more often sought would be Poison/GFL, but even given that, the price is not much more that a few times base. You can look on the AH and see them listed all the time these days.

Put it this way, if you offered the w/p Dagger for a +2 INT tome, you would have scores of offers within minutes. The Wiz VII ring probably would be about the same market as the tome, but again harder to come by. Everything else on the list would fall short.

    thx much for the help!

i also have a few ingrediants from shrouding...what would be a fair price for a +2 tome using those? i don't have much, but i do have at least one of every large (though only one each of scales and stones) and multiple mediums in every flavor.

Pricing and markets for Larges tend to be somewhat variable over time. I would suggest going to the AH and trying to get a feel there. Also check the Sarlona Marketplace forum for some idea. One can "grind" for larges and eventually get all you need, but many players are happy to avoid that for plat or tomes.

A couple of the Larges are a LOT more sought than others due to being needed in some of the most desired Tier III crafting.

I think you will find most peeps look at a 3 large for +2 INT tome trade as being fair. A lot of people will even consider 1 large scale as 2 larges for trading purposes.

You should be able to get away with the lg scale and perhaps 1 even possibly 2 other larges as a "good trade value" to pick up any +2 INT tome.

This is my opinion only, your milage may vary with your own driving conditions.

Sounds about right based on crosstalk in guild chat (never been in a position to trade away things like that personally).

I trade all my tomes for 3 larges each. W/P dagger for 10, and the wizardry ring prolly 2 or 3 larges max, the rest is nice but not worth much........

I can check if I got an int tome if you like just pm me.

    btw scales = 2 larges.

    +1 WoP dagger
+5 banishing dagger (L16, RR human)
+6 STR belt with haste (L15, RR dwarf)
    Wiz VII ring
Blindness ward goggles of divine power 5x
    Disease Immunity Belt of GFL

I know the WoP has some value...does anything else?
+1 w/p dagger - it's very nice, and worth more than a tome by a fair amount. 3x is a good estimate. (However, be aware there are changes coming to w/p that will lower their effectiveness, so the current price for w/p is at an all-time low, so you're likely better off keeping it)

+5 banishing dagger - worth a bit less than the tome, but if you don't have any other banishers, keep it, they'll come in quite handy in the vale.

    - Wiz VII ring - worth more than the tome because it's a ring. While it's not actually difficult to do the hound raid an average of 10 times with guildies to get a bound wiz vii ring with some great perks, the fact that this would be just available without any raiding makes it yummy. Whether you sell it or not depends on how much you raid and whether you have spell casters that need it.

    - Belt is a bit common, although useful. Worth a lot less than the tome.

As for larges, a tome is worth about 3 of those. I think the scale is worth a bit more than 2 regular ingredients however. Some people also value large stones a bit higher than the others except of course scales. Medium ingredients unfortunately are almost without value, they are simply too abundant. As far as vale ingredients go, twiggs are worth about 30-40k, the rest are worth quite a bit less.
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

The dagger is nice currently. If they change W/P to be as talked about, then it's pretty worthless. It's a gamble either way; get what you can now or keep and hope that they don't nerf and if they do hope that your bard has a high haggle to the vedor. Probably worth double an Int Tome at current value.

The banishing dagger is nice, but being a +5 really doesn't make it any better and banishing daggers are cheap on the A/H.

Disease Immunity of GFL belt is nice, just not worth much as most folks have pulled them lots of times and can be found on the A/H rather cheap.

The STR haste clickie belt is cool, but again not worth all that much.

The googles are really a dime a dozen, usefull, but can be found regularly at the vendor.

The Wiz VII ring is nice. The hound ring is much better, but for someone who doesn't run raids, even easy ones, I bet they would like it very much. For most people on the forums I think we wouldn't pay much for an inferior item to something we can get for free, bet it would sell on the A/H though.

You could get an int tome then some for the dagger. I would imagine that you could get an int tome for the ring, but might take awhile. A large scale and stone or scale and 2 others would more than likely get you the int tome.

Int tomes are the most valued because you need to use them at level 1 or miss the real benefits. Any other stat you can stick a tome on later and not loss anything, except for the int tome.

is this true because everyone has such high to-hits at this point? i mean, the +5 helps confirm the critical, right?

when i pulled it, someone in my group said that i should just bank it for now, since it may have much more value if/when stuff gets harder to hit when mod 9 launches...and then the +5 may be more useful?

does that seem likely to you?

since i'm so new, i have tons of bank space, so i may as well throw it in there and hope it appreciates over time.

Yes in my opinion you hit the nail on the head. The +5 part does make it nicer than your average banishing dagger, but most builds have a high to hit so it's kind of redundant. The mod 9 thing is very iffy. We are taking the battle to the devil/demon home plane. Just like you can't banish anything in the shroud you won't be able to banish anything back to it's home plane when it is standing in it already. Personally I would rather have a +1 or +2 banisher that I can use while leveling up a new toon running through the vale content than a +5 in which most level appropriate content the weapon won't see much use. *Edite* Also need to take into account the CR cap on banishing, if we do see level 20 quests with a banishing subtype creature I doubt their CR will be low enough to just poof them like we do in Coal Chamber and I would think it they could go Poof their saves would be high enough that banishing probably would not be the most effective way of dealing with such mobs *Edit*

I would bank it for the time being, everyone knows that soon(we hope), we are going to have a +4 level increase in the loot tables so the ML 16 gear will become what the ML 10-12 gear is now. You never know you may have use for the dagger at some point and maybe some content will be added that is inside the material plane and not an area that the plane of shavarath is creeping into(ie shroud).

Another thing is the saves of higher content, a banisher on coal elite is near worthless against the casters in there with higher saves.
