    It really is that simple.

Now of course you will have those attention seekers who want to wear their sexuality on their sleeves. That is fine but again, it falls back to the "No one cares" part. We come to enjoy ourselves in a game, not hear about other people's sexual lifestyles. Are people wanting to play the game here or are they really seeking an audience of people to support their offline lifestyle?
I don't know if this is the case with the OP or not but, even if it is I can understand the "in your face" types.
If you had to hear constant knocks on your lifestyle you might be a little over the top too.
I can tell you that as an athiest I am outright reactionary at this point.
We face the same kinds of attack from the same kinds of people...we have no morals yada yada...
Casual conversation can easily out an openly gay player without them "wearing it on their sleeve" and you couldn't be more wrong about the no one cares part...they do, so they can then judge

Would making a thread announcing a "lifestyle" not fit in that....in your face type? I think it would. I also think there is little casual coversation going about anyone's lifestyles either. In 3 years I have yet to hear someone start talking about their lifestyle to that degree. If it did it would probably be met with indifference simply because people come here to play, not sit and chat about so and so's freaking lifestyle. No, it is not about judging people, its about wanting to play a game and not have to deal with someone talk about stupid things like "lifestyles".

People hear knocks on their lifestyle all the time, just not generally in game. Again, we come here to play. Now it also is needed pointed out that no one is immune to being made fun of. Lifestyles are not, none of us are special enough to avoid being made fun of. No one. When someone thinks they are so special or think they should be immune to others making fun of them only brings on more of that what they think they should be immune to.

As far as being an athiest, cool. No one would know if you didn't bring it up. And yet again, still no one cares.

You and I obviously have very differing opines on group participation, I'm on mic all the time and as far as I know you don't use the mic. You've never heard anyone mention their wife?...I mention mine all the time...hell everyone even knows what Straks wife looks like. Just as easy to do if your gay...BAM outed.

Funny thing is I can see where you are coming from and, at one time, would have shared your point of view. Lets be honest here though...for homosexuals it's different, there is more malice more venom more mockery than against any other group.

Oh, I know...I like it to be out there though, it usually makes me a target but I'm fine with that now.

I know you are on the mic and I know people talk about their spouses. People to my knowledge are not talking about their lifestyles, they are talking about a loved one. Not the same thing as talking about a person's lifestyle. Me not using my mic, actually I do. Not much since I prefer to type things out and usually if I do get on mic, it is to bark out orders to people like a drill sergeant when things start to go bad. So yeah, I avoid it because I also will probably end up cussing out people like a drunken russian sailor.

I know there are a few people with "other" lifestyles in game, I quest with them. They don't need to tell me for me to figuire it out. But it goes back to the fact that people just don't care. I know I don't. I do care if they heal me when I need or know what they are doing in game. What they do outside of the game, don't care enough. I am sure most players are the same way.

One group recieving more malice towards them than others? No, sorry but I do not see that. I see everyone is equally treated with mockery or jokes. No one is special or excluded. Yet when a group starts thinking they are above being treated like that, it makes others want to mock them even more for thinking they are better than everyone else. Is it right that people get picked on? Maybe not but such is life.

Actually I have met many different people. And what does any of it have to do with playing the game? I can give you the simple answer.

    Nothing.

Now don't go off the spectrum and take me literally. I have a pretty thick skin and I can handle chit chat. I am talking about the people that completely lack a filter and can't shutup.

For example I did recall and drop party at the Marut in a VON3 run because I could no longer listen to a guy off his ADHD meds having a Tourette Syndrome attack. I mean if after more than an hour someone asks you to shut your pie hole for 2 seconds and you can't do it then be prepared to have people begin to drop party.

Sadly you must not actually have much fun in game. I joke around and have fun in my groups. We converse.. we joke.. we talk about RL... it's kinda like a big disfunctional family

Are you forgetting I group with you? Yes, I am sure everyone talks about RL stuff but question is, is anyone actually caring enough to listen? Not me for sure.

I understand why the OP would want to make this guild of alternative lifestyle
    players.

I had a person join my guild and ask me if I thought them being gay would cause
any problems in our guild. Now keep in mind that I am the only one hearing this
question and I am the only one that ever knew. I became hyper sensitive to the
topic. You would not begin to believe how many times someone says "Wow, that
is gay" or "You look gay" or any other number comments.

It made me feel uncomfortable because I always felt like this new person in our guild
was taking offense to the remarks.

The person never made comments about his husband and was not flaming, flamboyant,
or obvious, but many of us would make comments about the goings on in our lives.

Personal topics will eventually come up when you group with the same people for
long periods of time. There is only so much talk about peoples transmuting banishing
vorpal long sword of smiting that I can take. Eventually normal bs conversation
    takes place.

I can understand the OP's point of view.

    ******on a lighter note********

I was a Team Leader for a manufacturing plant. I routinely had to have meetings with
my team. I was rehashing our safety policies on wearing jewelry and watches on the
production floor. One woman, a relatively new team member, stood up and proclaimed
that HER wife would not appreciate her taking off her wedding ring for any reason. The
look of surprise in the peoples' faces in the room was priceless, as nobody knew she
was gay. They all looked at me like "how are going to respond to that?"

I said "My wife doesn't like the idea of me taking my wedding ring of either. However,
she does really enjoy it when I can use all of my fingers when we are alone."

Her faced turned red. Then she sat down and removed her ring.
