    Why the need for segregation???

I'm an openly gay player and officer in two well known guilds...
No issues here... my fellow guildies are supportive (and even protective) of all of our players, no matter there lifestyle... (heck - i can get on and whinge about my husband to the guys in my guild as much as they whinge about their wives - lol)

I just worry that if you set up a guild such as this that some people who are not as strong or confident in themselves as you (or I), that they may be the target of abuse or homophobic behaviour....

but that just a concern - not a definate! I tend to believe that the usually higher IQ of people who play games like DDO are beyong such redneck 1980's behaviour...
I generally believe the best in people... (may be nieve i know...)

However, if you went ahead with something like this, i'd suggest one of these names...

    Pink Police
    Red Slippers of Doom
    Friends of Dorothy
    Queer Eye of the Beholder
    Kansas No More

Eyhana (16 Cleric), Eyhanagee (16 Cleric), Enkri (16 Cleric), Enermax (16 Cleric), EeLite (2 Ranger/11 Cleric) Eyhanabee (16 Barbarian)
Elenium (2 Ranger/14 Bard), Eechim (16 Wizard), Erubium (12 Paladin), Elektrum (MULE) Eridium (9 Fighter), Ezriel (7 Rogue)... Proud PC & SrTG Officer

    Rainbow Warriors of Khyber.

Then if people started to bully you for being Gay, you could claim you're actually a faction of Green Peace members.

Personally..... I'd prefer to be labled gay than green.

Here's a merchandising site for you all.

    http://www.rainbowstore.com.au/

And some info on the Rainbow Warrior in case you need to brush up on some facts so when you pretend to be 'Green' you can sound convincing.

    http://www.greenpeace.org/internatio...ainbow-warrior

BTW - I'm not Gay but I once Hibbity Bibbitied a guy that was.

    Cool

I really don't understand how the sexual orientation of a player is going to affect how well he or she or he/she can 'kill the monsters / help the party / heal or raise my sorry ass'.

Maybe I should start a "retired due to disability gynecologists (no trial attorneys need apply) guild.

Because they won't have the uberest gear because some of the uber gear looks awful.

I can see the prices on Brigadine Armour going through the roof soon though. I'd Better start banking a few sets.

It's not. He specifically stated why he wanted to be a part of this guild. Social networking. If you wanted to find like minded "retired due to disability gynecologists who play DDO", forming a guild of these folks would suit your purposes as well.

I think the OP wasn't talking about capability here Jopin...
I play almost as well as anyone else... But that doesn't stop (in pugs at least) constant inuendoes and comments that while amusing the first fifty or so times do get tiring after a while...
"oh E', you come up the rear of the group... you'd be good at that..."
    or
"don't be such a **** Joe, oh wait, E' likes ****, keep doing that then..."

    VERY childish...

Personally my play-style has absolutely nothing to do with my sexual orientation...
But being openly gay does bring its list of subtle inuendoes and jokes that can wear down the enjoyment of the game after a while... its also is very draining to have to watch everything you say and do all the time... very draining to have to think of wording things correctly so ******s don't take it and run with it with yet another gay innuendo or open joke...
In the three years i've been playing DDO i've had pugs leave groups after they discovered they were playing with an openly gay man, questioned on my capabilities as an officer because of my sexual orrientation, and refused entry into pug raids cause "oh your that *** - no thanx"...

So while i don't believe there is a need for an "alternative lifestyle" guild, I can see that the OP may just be tired of having to second guess his own wording, playing by strict self imposed rules to not open ones self to ridicule or harrassment.
Heck - i've thought at times it'd be fun to run with a group of guys i could just let loose and be myself with.
But that doesn't help the integration or undestanding from fellow civilised human beings...

The inteligent person knows our sexual orrientation has nothing to do with our capabilities as players.
The truly intelligent knows that with a Gay man in the group we not only succeed the raid - we get it done in style

I have a solution to keep problems that might come up about a person's sexuality in game.....don't talk about personal sexual lifestyles. I think most would agree and come to the same belief about other player's sexual orientation. It is this: No one cares.

    It really is that simple.

Now of course you will have those attention seekers who want to wear their sexuality on their sleeves. That is fine but again, it falls back to the "No one cares" part. We come to enjoy ourselves in a game, not hear about other people's sexual lifestyles. Are people wanting to play the game here or are they really seeking an audience of people to support their offline lifestyle?

Don't talk about personal sexual lifestyles? Right, because I've never been in a group of people who're telling gay jokes. You don't have to express your lifestyle to have people make fun of it.

If someone is telling bad jokes that makes someone upset, there is a /squelch feature for that. Problem solved.

Maybe not the answer of those who want everyone to know and care about their lifestyle but they will learn at some point that really, no one cares about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure one's sexual orientation does not impact one's ability to play the game. I could be way off.

I couldn't care less what gender one is attracted to as long as if you are on a cleric I get healed, if you are on a bard I get songs, if you are on whatever you do your job or role in the group.

Granted, I am usually in groups that generate a lot of drama or innuendo and jokes but the folks in the party know we are all in it for fun and mostly we end up trying to see who can get the better dirty joke in about the other anyway. If that isn't for you, join one of my regular groups...just check the LFM and if you see certain names in there or if the message is racy you may just be in for a "treat" as it were.

Openly gay...groovy. Openly straight...groovy. Openly bi...groovy. I don't care let's game and have fun. Wanna talk all about your lifestyle in a party, fine. You don't, just as fine.

Quan was right in one thing...nobody should care, we are here to play a game. Some people don't like the talk about personal stuff in their parties anyway, no problem. Some do, great. Either way is perfectly fine. It's your game, your groups, play and have fun.

I do know this, I won't leave a good player out for any reason, and I don't care what you do at home...as long as I get to report the really good gossip on the Horquirer!

I don't care what dungeon someone plunges their sword into in real life.

Play the game with a minimal number of distractions saying I am x,y, or z is a distraction, saying jokes about x,y, or z is a distraction.
