The default data center

I am getting the following error.

The default data center
http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/Service.asmx is not availible

I have already tried everything in the knowledge base. Disable firewall, delete LauncherUserSettings.xml, uninstall the game and reinstall. I even uninstalled my norton360 software. Nothing helps. I finally found the connection log file that has a number of errors listed. I am going to copy and paste it here in teh hopes that one of you guys can give me some ideas. Oh before yesterday I could play fine with this computer and setup.

My friend was having this same issue and we just fixed it.
Go into Internet Explorer. Under Internet Options -> LAN settings make sure "Use a proxy server" is unchecked.
I noticed you have the line:

In your log file there which was also in my friend's log file, and was what made me think to check the proxy setting in the first place.

Apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm having the exact same problem as the others in this thread: the game fails at "getting data centers" and the launcher log reports that I have a proxy of http://192.168.0.1:87 set, which is an old proxy that I used with a previous internet connection.

The problem is that I don't have a proxy set any more. Both Internet Explorer and Firefox -- the only browsers I have installed -- are set to no proxy and auto detect network settings. I've tried changing settings in both browsers, turning auto detect on and off, and reconfiguring connections, but the launcher still thinks I have a proxy set.

Having done that I decided that there must be some lingering setting somewhere. So I searched the registry, all of the files in the DDO directory, and all of the files in the turbine directories under application settings and removed all traces of the address "192.168.0.1" and turned off all registry settings for proxies, but the launcher still reports a proxy of http://192.168.0.1:87.

I'm at a complete loss at this point, so if anyone can tell me where else the launcher may be retrieving this information from I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
