Default Before you quit the game

You owe it to yourself to try permadeath play.

Argo has two permadeath guilds with different rule sets. Stormreach Permadeath Society is new and looking for more. Mortal Voyage is the largest and most active PD guild looking to grow in our new era of brokerless play.

Gear up with brokers and vendors available:

Go Commando with the tough Mortal Voyage ruleset:

I talked to 2 people about permadeath and they both were like "screw this" after the first death. A particular rule in the ruleset they played was "PC's corpse gets looted". Yeah, F that.

corpses getting looted doesnt really matter in PD since at best you can pass on 1 item to your next PD character. You also arent likely to have anything worth keeping anyway.

Depends on the PD ruleset you play with.

depends on the ruleset, and then only if you can prove it.

Tried it for a couple of months on a fairly strict ruleset...it turned into permazerg as we all know the quests so well having run them hundereds of time. Eventually lost interest around lvl 7.

Good that some folks enjoy it (we need every subscription!), not my cup o' tea.

I would be ok with the Stormreach PDS rules if it wasn't for lag deaths. Lag represents an element completely beyond a player's control and completely foreign to the PnP world that PD play is based on.

    Arrow Guild Forum?

Can I get a mulligan on this thread? It seems like a guild-recruitment thread, which would.... go in the... *pauses to think and consider his actions before going forward* guild forum.

I would play PD if they made it incorporated into the game at creation, such as "hardcore' in d2.. i don't want to play on the honor system.

    My opinion only...
PD play is impractical with today's server-side lag issues. Since most people I know are leaving the game due to the lag, it seems to me that trying PD before leaving would only increase the feelings of frustration and desire to leave the game - even if it's only temporary.

I respect PD players, it's as valid a playstyle as any other. But, I think this post is a bit silly in it's message and objectives.

But it would be fun to get your team mates killed. Last man standing would get all the uber lootz

That's my beef with PD. PDers zerg as much as anyone else and the so-called "no spoilers" rules are just that, "so-called."

A better option is they way I and others are doing it in a dedicated team: no AH, no buying from brokers, no twinking (other than swapping gear amongst team members) no buying magic anything from vendors (components and inscription materials are OK). Other than those few exceptions, when it comes to magical stuff, what we get is what we find. It makes the stuff Goldscuttle gives us actually matter. It's as much like those olde tyme AD&D games as we can get.

    But we don't do perma-death.

Permadeath sounds a lot like Real life, isn't that why I jump on DDO to escape that?

Yeah, because we all walk around town in armor ready to do battle with zombies at a moment's notice.

You must never have played D&D.
