The neck snap

so I was in Sleeping Dust the other night. I wanted to be able to hit the spiders without killing them so I donned paralyzing hand wraps. I do about 10-20 pd but they get paralyzed on one hit most of the time and I can sneak/wade thru the spiders to get to the magi. As I approached one I hit assassinate out of habit and was suprised to see him drop. So I took off the wraps and rolled up on an ogre and hit the button, dropping him.

So why is it I can "assassinate" bare handed but I cant JAM a wand into someone's ear/eye/nose and assassinate them?
