"Hi, Lurker"
i'm not a catholic, not even a christian. however, st patricks day is a day close to my heart. when i was in my teens, more than a decade ago, i attended st patricks school. it is a mission school that was founded by the christian brothers. over time, due to legislation, it became a government aided school but the catholic presence is still there
with colonial styled buildings, the school's heritage is certainly rich. while not a catholic, me and my friends would often attend mass, even look for the brothers for confessions. never once were we rejected. each time we met the brothers, sometimes as a group, we always felt a sense of relief but more importantly the steely determination yet warmth exluded by the brothers which impacted us
my 4 years in the school was a wonderful. studies aside, the best moments for me were the mass for various occasions but none were as huge as st patricks. me and my friends now would wear something green. not just for commemorating the day but as a reminder to our heritage. of course now, a stout is added to that list of "rituals"

[What an individual is celebrating is completely up to them. In the US, St. Patricks day has become a day to do one of the following (among other things):
1) Celebrate Irish heritage
2) Celebrate alcohol
3) Force the family to eat corned beef and cabbage for dinner
The actual roots of the holiday have little bearing on what people today are celebrating
Strakeln,
As an Irish Catholic I have to say this in all seriousness....
You da man!!!

Keep that book learnin' away from me, I'm going to go celebrate my Irish heritage with some green beer.
At least I think I've got some Irish heritage. As long as my family has been in the states, I can probably claim just about all nationalities, if they would have me.
Prost! Cheers! Salud! Topa! Gom bui! Skaal! Kippis! Sante! L'chaim! Kampai!
and of course, Slainte!

I give the gift of thirst quenching!
Anyone who asks (soon to be) Saint Shaamis for a drink in general chat, and opens a trade window will receive an Enchanted Ghallandra Distillate for St. Patty's Day. It's the least I can do for fellow Khyberians on my third favorite Holiday!
