Oh wow! That is a really, really nice improvement!
I fail to see how this ( http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=175704 ) does not represent a dumbing down of DDO, yet quest sharing (to help with Hound/VoD snaffus and confusing quests chains) does:
Scenario 1: "Hey, I need some help with this quest...I'm trying to get flagged/favor/easy XP. Would you mind, terribly, popping in and running through this with the utmost speed with your superior knowledge guiding you, while I wait at the entrance or follow along blithely in your sparking footsteps?"
Scenario 2: "Hey, I just noticed that I'm trying to join you in this portion of Threnal/Catacombs/Delera's/whatever and the door is telling me that I'm not on the right goal of the quest. Could you update me please?"
Yeah, which of those seems more dumbed down?

Quoted for truth. D@mn, I was thinking the same thing when I read that thread earlier myself and remembered his complaint with this.
I mean, we all know that what sets this game apart from WOW is it's active combat system and limitless build potentials with the
multiclassing system and enhancements, which is the only real "mental activity" outside of a quest. Strategy and tactics involving
the active combat system are the defining mark of intelligent gameplay that go on inside a quest no matter how it gets advanced.
Having a game's totally incidental activities, like talking to a quest giver, become more convenient and user friendly promotes more new
players and I'm sorry, but I just disagree that having more players find this game appealing makes it less unique. It would still be the
same unique and awesome game it is now if we magically got the subscriber base that WOW has, cause it is by design not "dumbed
down".
Of course you imply this, otherwise there should be no complaining.
If you're getting no enjoyment from walking up to the NPC with everyone else, then why are you complaining? Turbine is trying to reduce the busywork in their game between the real fun (ie questing). That's a smart move and one I cannot understand anyone complains about.

LOL. Touche.
No problem. I was disagreeing with this:
I think it is up to individual players to immerse themselves in the game to the extent they want to and depending upon the reason as to why they play. I do not think the "sharing" idea will detract in any way from players ability to immerse themselves in the game, if they so desire.

ah, someone actually came up with a good counter-argument. while your argument stands if you take what i wrote literally (which you rightly should if you dont know me in game), if you have run with me you would know that i dont actually roll that way and writing that extra bs is just a CMA.
I guess I am not really following you. Scenario 1 happens NOW. If you have read the whole thread, the devs have stated Scenario 2 CANNOT happen under this system.
The share feature will NOT allow you to bypass previous chapters. The ONLY thing it does is save you a trip to PU the quest from the giver. No longer do you have to talk to Hound man and enter the underground - just enter and run.
I fail to see the "dumbing" down in this.

*Walks into Arlos cell, stabs Arlos in every vital organ, cuts off Arlos head and then burns the body* "What the hell is wrong with you, evertime I come down here you have been captured again. I free you like 100 times and you are still here. Can you not figure out that when I open the door you are supposed to leave and just wait for the next group of adventures to open the door for you. Arg you need to die Arlos!

Too funny, and far too common an experience; I'm glad they added this feature. deathseeker.. yes, very valid point you made about what if someone didn't want their particular quest advanced, but as you already pointed out the advantages of this feature far outweighs the bad.
ound Raid Leader: Does everyone have the quest?
Party: YUP!
Hound Raid Leader: Are you SURE? Everyone please check to make sure.

"i want a system that drives away players. if they get frustrated because they couldnt spend 1-5 minutes reading the manual, the map, the in game help, the forums, or ask somebody, then i say good riddance. if you cant think for yourself then why even have a brain?"
