Default Where are all the pure Wizard builds?

Am I missing them or something? I've been searching the forums for pure Wizard builds but not having any luck finding them. I just created my third toon and he's a Drow Wizard. I don't usually run caster builds so I'd like something that has good higher level effectiveness but is not so hard that a noob to casters can't run it. If anybody knows any good pure Wiz builds (ones that work for Drows would be great, but anything would be good too), please post a link to them here. Thanks!

There are no pure wizard builds because building a pure wizard is simple...

    18 INT (20 if you're a drow)
    12-14 CON

    There... you're done.

I would also suggest a 10+ STR for encumberance reasons, but that's up to you.

Wizards get a ton of feats, so it's easy to get all you want...

    4 free Meta-magik feats
    • Extend
    • Maxmize
    • Empower
    • Heighten

    6 normal feats (7 if you're human)
    • Spell Pen
    • Greater Spell Pen

... whatever you want.... (Toughness is good for extra HP, Mental Toughness for extra SP)

Oh, and definitely max out Concentration as a skill.

Pure wizards are rather easy which is why you probably can't find a build. For stats all you need is INT,CON, and maybe DEX depending on your preferences. I personal couldn't care less about DEX.

Feats are a matter of preference to a certain extent as well. The must haves IMO are: Maximize, empower, extend, and Height and both spell pen feats . The other feats you choose should be tailored to fit your play style.

Skills you should invest in are Diplomacy, concentration. UMD is optional, but is something I like to invest in, Wizards have a lot of skill points anyhow.

    Enjoy

Edit: I rarely have a problem with encumbrance on my 8 str sorc, and when it happens it is usually because I got hit with wave of exhaustion or what have you.

there's one thing you never put in a trap if you're smart. If you value your continued existence. If you have any plans on seeing tomorrow then there's one thing you never, ever put in a trap.

Pretty much going to echo what the others have said already. A pure class wizard pretty much builds itself (in my experience). My WF wizard went with MT, IMT, Spell Pen, Greater Spell Pen, Insightful Reflexes followed by Extend, Maximize, Empower, Heighten, and Enlarge for his metamagics.

IMO WF Sorc > Drow Wizard

You will be able to self-heal and have a nice HP pool. WF casters are a great choice IMO. I have a capped Drow wiz that I can't even bring myself to play anymore because of the slow as hell casting speed. My WF Sorc is so much more fun for me!

    Just my opinion though.

Wizards are much better to get a feel for the arcane classes though. Casting speed can be suplemented with Quicken.

Learn the spells and get a feel for what an arcan can do.. THEN build your WF Sorc.

Yes, in my opinion, first caster should always be a wizard so you can play with all the different spells...

THEN you can try your hand at a sorc...

And you may find that you still prefer your wizard (like I do). I love being able to swap spells at will, and all the extra feats.

Nothing really beats a fully tweaked out with uber gear WF Wizard with what we've seen and know about Mod 9.

    For pure Wizard that is.

Warforged 18 starting int 16 starting con, put the rest of the points where you want em for the flavor you are looking for. Better than a 20 starting int drow or a human with int enhancement because you can heal yourself.

I have a wf sorc yet still making this comment. A drow wizard will get 3 higher dc on his spells then a wf sorc next mod just saying. Wizards do have advantages over sorcs.

Another comment is I would go max int, 14 to 16 con and the rest into cha. It is worthwhile getting that umd up there because eventually wizards will get to no fail umd heal scrolls for one thing. You can take insightful reflexes if you want to bump that reflex save up there at some point.

I agree with the others I have 3 elf wizards under my belt, though I dont get why enlarge gets no love. I think it comes in handy especially against beholders. All my girls who spell cast carry this even my cleric when I need to heal my party from a safe distance or try to destruct a beholder as well. Sure its sometimes situational but it has helped me out more then anything else.

That being said thought it can be a challenge ive found playing elf pure wizards very fun. I worked around their con issues by making sure not to have a negative con mostly trying to start out with at least a 14 then getting items to build it up. But intelligence is important. My first builds intel is at 30 right now and she does rather well and with work and maybe a +3 tome I can get it a little higher but its unnecessary.

What exactly did you want your wizard to do though? thats the most important question. Kalari's build wasnt planned and was considered a beneficial accident, due to the way I did her stats she does more then just cast, she can assist healing due to umd (gave her a good charisma) and she uses bows/great xbows for back up to the party. But shes definitely a pure build and fun to play but I dont know if I could break down what I did with her into a build cause its been a year now and I dont remember all the stuff Ive put into her leveling up and with my new builds im doing things slightly different. Hope you find a build you like though.

    Wizard Builds-

WF Wizard Max Int and 18 Con 14 Dex. Ghoste has the best build around "Shadow Mage"

The only other one I would consider making would be a Dragon Marked halfling
