    Default What is respecing?

    What does repsecing mean?

It seems some people feel slighted that some other character is more powerful then themselves, or they feel they are somehow weaker than the others so they want the game changed?

Is that what is being talked about? The game is the game in my opinion. It is what it is. It seems a mute point to argue for this respecing. If I were the DM I would tell you "That's the way it is.", and end of story. Stop arguing about it.

If there is a respec-ing, where would all the Dwarf TWF Rangers/(INSERT CLASS HERE) go?

There are a BUNCH of threads on respeccing.

Here's how I'd personally use it:

For my 28 point fighter, I'd like to 1) be able to increase him to a 32 point (after all he's at just short of max favor--I hate that the best option for an original build is to throw it in the dustbin after achieving 1750) and 2) change some of his skill points (Intimidate used to be very unreliable due to the long cool down period. The shortening of the cool down made it much more workable--however for several levels I gave up on it so he's not got near as much as I'd like him to have.

For my Drow Pally/fighter/rogue, since they have added and changed some pally enhancements I'd like to go 16/2/2 or 14/2/4 which can't be reached because he is currently 11/3/2. He may end up 12/6/2 or 12/4/4 or deleted/bank slot.

That's about it...check out those other threads for some spirited debate.

Fortunately both 3.5 and 4E have means of respeccing within the rules. If a DM was so inflexible as not to allow adjustments for an evolving rules set I would personally be happy to find or start another gaming group.

Respecing is not changing the game. Respecing is being able to change your character to keep up with the changes to the game.

Respec is about stomping on Don Juan and hugging Gunga.

    j/k

Respec is a dream that some people have held onto for a very long time, and although they fight adamantly against the machines, John Connor has not appeared to give them hope. In Zion the last remnants of humanity gather in hope that The One shall save them....

    Wait, hold on... wrong dream.

Respec is about wanting things to be redone without redoing them yourself.

Honestly, it's just about changing your character Burger King style.

And there are good reasons for that! However, there are good reasons against it too! Some are worries. Some are obvious. All are highly disputed.

The way I see it concerning respec: In the end, there can only be one.
