    Default A new PC

I am going to buy a new PC within the next two weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as a brand/build that will be VERY compatible with DDO and offer a superb gaming experience?

    Budget is $750.00 or less.

    Thanks.

Are you comfortable assembling it yourself?

I wouldnt recomend anyone buy a "Gaming PC" for $750.00 But a nice rig can be self assembled for that pricerange.

I would have no problem assembling it myself...are there instructions? That is a serious question not a joke by the way.

THere realy are not Instructions, but its often more of a "Checklist" as most things only plug in one way so its difficult to screw anything up if you take your time.

Spend some time googleing "Build my own PC" and see what comes up. I'm sure you'll find some guides and tips.

THe first thing you wanna do is asses what you have now that canbe used onthe new rig...
Usually the Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse are easy to move over. Maybe a DVD-R Drive.... Beyond that, things get a little bumpy with new motherboards, Updated hard drive interfaces, Different Ram standards....

I would suggest an AMD based system with a budget that low. THeir CPUs are less expensive than the intel equivalents, Perform a little bit lower, but are still way more thanya need for DDO.

Gigabyte, Biostar, Asus are my motherboard chixces for a novice builder. In that order.

Go with Vista Home 64 Bit. Turn off UAC as soon as the OS is ready to go.

4 Gigs of Ram is cheap now.

    hard drives are Cheap.

Onboard sound is generally easier to live with in a Vista enviroment.(And fits your budget)

a Solid DX10 Video card can be had for under $150 now.

Power suply is Important as well, Sometimes you can get a case that includes a good quality one, but most are cheap pieces of junk. Look into Antec cases as they also build high quality Power supplies. If you must have a fancier case, Lok into Power supplies from COmpanies liek PC P&C, Corsair, OCZ, Enermax, and the like. THe extra $ you spend there wil go a long way.

Good luck, If you need any specific recomendations, let me know.

For 758 or less depending on Harddrive

you can have a computer that plays DDO at or more then 150FPS up to 300+FPS

    MotherBoard 780i EVGA 200.00
    Processor E8500 189.00
    Memory 30.00
    EVGA 260 core 216 239.00
    Power supply 600w 70.00
    Harddrive 500G 60.00

you can reuse your Harddrive if its a SATA drive, even if its a IDE, you can get a 30 dollar kit to make it SATA

When you have time and the money you can get a new Case, keyboard, and what not,

The reason I used EVGA because I am using this setup with DDO and I have all settings maxed and it runs it flawlessly

the above link has a full computer you can build for 800 dollars, and give you step by step how-to with pictures

The E1400(50 dollars) is a lower end Dual-core. It will be a bottleneck if you decide to get a very nice graphics card.

From what you have posted, No one can tell you how it will run DDO. It mostly depended on Memory(2gigs is plenty) and Graphics card. The DVD, Labelflash support, will not mean anything for DDO.

Like I posted above you can make a very nice computer that will last a few years or more for around 700 to 800 dollars like your OP stated. If you even pick and choose a little more then what i did you can make a computer very nice computer for even less.

Also, the computer you listed is only 339.99(best buy), why get some a little better then what you have now.

You're right. It's the penny pincher in me trying to come out.
