automatically kicked off after choosing server

I logged onto the laptop today and it did an very short (few seconds) update for my ddo when I logged on. Then I chose the server, I clicked the play button, then it went to the black screen with the ddo outline, but rather than going to the next screen/step, it then it errored out. It did this everytime I tried to log on.

Game Error 129 Hardware texture compression support was not detected. This video card feature is required to run the game.

Never had this problem with ddo on the laptop before this. I was on all day on sunday. Laptop is running vista. I think it was the update it just did. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall DDO???

Hi.. I am having the same issue.. I dont get any errors... just the black screen and then BAM! crash to desktop! I downloaded the game from DDO website... so to uninstall and reinstall for me will not work, cuz the link they have posted may be it, or unless it's the update... cuz I had the very short like 1 min update, and then this... but I never tried to get on b4.. so I dunno, but in the past last September it was all fine for me... I just downloaded the game last Wednesday and paid then too, and now I cant play... hmmm must be this new update! Thanks DDO!!!!!

The one minute update a couple days ago was just an updated loading screen. They changed it from the Stormreaver's foot to a group of characters standing around and some text about the anniversary celebration.

As far as the black screen and the crash to the desktop, it sounds like a video driver error. Perhaps you would do well to check to see if you have the latest drivers for your graphics cards, and then post a dxdiag if updating those drivers doesn't help any?

Hello. I found out it was not the gfx driver or anything, but the UAC on my pc! I am running windows Vista and having UAC (User Account Control) turned off that worked... I found another post by some DDO player and they mentioned to turn that off, So I tried and whadda ya know, it works!

i have the same "problem" when i switch servers only. the first time i log into the new server i get bounced out to the desktop but the next load works fine as do all subsequent loads till i switch to another server, then i get the one dump and everything is fine. Weird but I can live with it.

Make sure your DDO Window is "Active" Click on it once it goes to the Full black Screen. Vista has Priority Issues.
