Either WF or Drow. Human not in the running

imo, humans are the best sorcs.

human sorc at end game has great self-healing via umd, an extra feat beyond any other sorc, only 1 less charisma pt than drow (same max mod iirc, so = casting), and 3 more charisma pts than a wf sorc. also, 6th lvl spells are tight on a sorc and humans dont have to worry about "losing" a spot to reconstruct.

Drow can self heal as well as any Human. Humans get the extra feat - I'd recommend Spell Pens (both). WF with Quicken and reconstruct has unequaled healing.

Your choice. Any one of the 3 is effective end game almost equally.

Not this again... just read further down in this forum where this exact topic is disected very well.

To your question, I have drow and wf sorcs, and wf is much more fun to play.

Go WF, you won't regret it.

The extra hp, all immunities and ultimate selfhealing is very nice.
You lose 1-2 DC ccompared to human, but you gain immortality.

If you want a great nuker build go warforged all the way. Humans and drow can still be good nukers, wf are just better with reconstruct and more hp. Human honestly I say is better at this time, drow can get to a 39 cha(without abbot trinket) and human get to 38, both are the same in terms of usefullness. Both can get umd, but the extra skill per level and the extra feat pushes human over. Next mod drow might be able to get to an even number that humans can only get 1 below, making them better in some ways. Also if you are going wf, and u want to be a pk/fod'r just don't do it. The Subtraction to cha for wf makes pk fod wf sorcs just plain dumb.

Simply put: dps sorc go wf, pk/fod/cc sorc go human or drow, atm human is better.

I went back! Just didn't like the WF and percentage of spells not dropping.

Drow is the way to go with cha bonus (without high level end items contributing), and focus on spell pen, and UMD allowing use of healing CSW wands.

Have to admit I haven't tried a human above level 6 but seemed to not have any major setbacks, except the cha bonus that drow get.

    It was a joke -

My pure sorc is drow. Umd at 39 without swapping equipment, 2 spell pen feats and all 3 spell pen enhancements. You don't need to sell me on this race choice...

I had a drow sorcerer but changed to human. My human sorceress is far more superior than Drow. If you plan it right you can get 2 of your stats high up there with the human +1 bonus to attributes. Also the extra feat is great and extra skill point allows you to dump intel. My starting stats were:

    STR 8
    DEX 8
    CON 18
    INT 8
    WIS 8
    CHA 18

I don't really have uber stuff, 1 +2 tomes and a few +1 tomes and now my stats are

    STR 14
    DEX 14
    CON 26
    INT 14
    WIS 14
CHA 34 ( no shroud item)

HP - around 270's. With the right feats, spells and enhancements, you can solo almost anything. My PK/FoD rarely get resisted. Go human, you won't regret it. As for the warforged immunities - use spells, clikies or items to resist the odd situational problems that occur.

um no.... My drow sorc has a 40 cha, show me a human that has that.... Humans make awesome sorcs don't get me wrong but Drow will always have +1 more cha.

Someone mentioned "spells not dropping". On my fire spekked sorc (28-pt buid), I carry FoD and have pretty good success against casters (ie trog casters in Shroud). For melee types, I stick to DPS. On my death spekked sorc (32-pt build), I rarely have problems FoDing mobs at level.

*Biased* to WF, as that is all I've leveled to cap (twice, working on my 3rd). Have tried fleshies, but I hate having to depend on clerics or tons of pots to get a heal. Very survivable (high CON), soloable (self-healing and immunities), and are cheap to play.

general rule of thumb for all classes has always been. If you have a specific race that gives you something useful take it. If not choose human for the feat as it's better than nothing.

A sorcerer gets zero benifit from quicken you know. At least if it's the same as in PnP. The benefits of quicken get negated by the act of adding the metamagic to spontaneously casted magic.

At least in PnP the effects of adding metamagic to a sorcerer's spells always make it a full round action. Plus sorcerers already in DDO get an effective 'quicken spell' effect.
