Default Where to go with my 1 Rog/8Monk

As the title indicates, my rogue-splashed monk is lvl 9, and I'm wondering where to go from here. I guess my options are a few: I can continue on, eventually ending as a 19 monk/1 rog (w/UMD maxed), or I can take rogue from here on, ending at 12 rog/8 monk (thinking about taking Thief-Acrobat in such a case), or I can mix in something else (fighter, ranger).

Currently, my monk is fairly even across Dex and Wis, and has TWF, ITWF, PA, CE and some other stuff. I like the unarmed animation, but if I went T-A, I think I'd swap to Q-staff. The thing is, my Str is fairly low (starting 12), though that could be some incredibly fast attacking (Wind Stance 2 + T-A Q-staff speed boost + Haste).

I guess my real question is: is it worth going full monk using handwraps? I know, many are still broken/missing, and their are no GS wraps, which sucks. Aside from those points (and I do not discount them, I just want discussion about everything else), is it worth it?

    I hope he has Intimidate.

Other than that, I'd continue monk (maybe 18mnk/1rog/1ftr or 19mnk/1rog) and would start using kamas.

No intim. An oversight on my part. I decided that I wanted to be able to do flips with him (so I'm upping tumble), and that I already have 2 character with intimidate, and was going to work on another (which I am now). Plus, he gets a fair DPS boost from SA (halfling guile, 1d6 SA training).

Kamas...I know, I know, probably the best option, but...bleh!

    "Good monk DPS"

Translation: Bad DPS for a dex-based fighter.

    Default Uses

I took advantage of the weekend to lvl my 1 rogue x monk and Im having a blast. My first monk was pure dex kama and she rocked the JUMP function, leaping the line abundant stepping to the first available mob and dicing him. Problem was a BIG FAT GOOSE EGG in the shroud and upper level content, she could hit everything but did no damage. Second problem was beggin' for buffs, I got sick of it, everyone else would get a GH and blur but I would need like stone and displacement with my crazy moderatly high ac. SO I got greedy and went one rogue splash for umd, went with a crane style and wind stance and stunning blow. My angle on this toon was the spring attack line up through whirlwind. Once I get abundant step and Diamond Soul Ill be unbreakable. Im packing Maldroit Wraps as well as a paralyzer wrap (in Giant Hold theyre usefull but might not be in the vale quests) and am hunting for transmuters (kama maybe). The Whirlwind attack +paralyzer is fun. Was going to go Intimi but chose not to, figured If I was the first in everything would agro on me until fighters arrived. Since I know I wont deal much damage past the DR I went with a supporting tactic of landing multiple hits with weakening or maldroits, causing the crits to roll and banking the sp for stunns and unbalancing strikes and heals. Against the reds I drop back and use umd to heal, rez and buff the tanks, I also kept the dd and searches up so that once my high ac and super saves got me to the other side of a trap I could actually disable the stupid thing. Playing a rogue 90% of the time that was the most frustrating part...making it thru the trap only to have to stand there and wait for the rogue.

Thanks for your input Sal, but a paragraph break, or 4, thrown in there would make this easier (less difficult) to read.

Oh, ya, yours generally have good layout. When I dislike someone's layout, I make my own anyway.

you'll be incredibly fast at missing if you take windstance (which only 10% stacks w/ haste at III) with a 12 +6 item = 18 str

    of course this is IMO

He says you have a too low Str (18) to hit reliably with Qstaff.

In other words, you'd be fast at missing (look at your OP for the Qstaff comment where you say you'd swing fast).

Oh, duh. Are q-staves finessable? I'm guessing not.

Nope. The idea was suggested when RTA II was released but never came to an end.

Ok. Well that certainly solves that idea.
