STR Based Ranger AC Help

Hi All,

I am looking for some help with AC on my STR based Ranger.

He is currently level 13, Lawful Good, Dwarf Ranger.

He has 25 Dex (+2 Tome Eaten, looking forward to a +3)

I am looking for help with getting a realistic high 2WF AC.

I Currently Have:

+7 Dex Bonus
+5 Mithril Breast Plate (Would I be better off with robes/outfits, or +5 Mith Chain?)
Protect +5 Cloak
Chaosguardes (+2 Dodge)
+5 Bark

My AC is capping at about 43-45.

What can I do realistically to get it higher?

Realistically +4 insight bonus on shroud item and less realistically +3 chattering ring. That would give you a 50-52 ac which would help significantly on trash mobs. If you have a decent umd you can potentially boost your umd high enough to realistically use shield wands which would give you a 54-56 ac.

Thanks for the Reply. No UMD. But Mod 9 +4 for tempest will be shield anyway.

You can only add +4 Insight bonus to AC on a weapon correct? If so, do I not reduce my DPS?

So then I could have:

10 - Base
10 - +5 MBP
5 - Dex Bonus
2 - Dwarven Armor Mastery
1 - Dodge Feat
2 - Dodge (Chaosgardes)
3 - Dodge (Chattering Ring)
5 - Natural
5 - Deflection
2 - Tempest
4 - Insight

Add 3 for Favored Enemy Defense, thats 52 VS FE

Add 2 for Tempest 3 in Mod 9, thats 51 Vs Everything and 54 VS FE.

Is this about it?

+2 for defensive fighting.

and 4-7 more vs giants.

when raid buffs are added that isn't bad.

oh, and did you do the armor ritual yet? that is +1.

If your int is ~13, +5 with CE.

my dwarf ranger has a 26 dex [16 base, 1 tome, 3 enhancement, 6 item] and with dwarven armor mastery three that is perfect for a mithral breastplate.

Think I started with 14 +2 Tome +3 Enh +6 Item = 25, I need a +3 Tome to get 26...

That's about it.

You can add +1 if you get the alchemical bonus added to your armor through the ritual.

Another +1 if you can get that +3 dex tome and take armor mastery 3.

Another +1 if you put +2 exceptional dex on another shroud weapon. Then you would need a daggertooth belt if you already have armor mastery 3. But you could then drop down to armor mastery 2 and save some action points.

Another +1 if you take the two weapon defense feat. And remember you will need one of these feats to qualify for tempest 3: two weapon blocking, two weapon defense, oversized two weapon fighting, or lightning reflexes.

And don't forget about the kundarak delving suit from von 6. It is 10 base armor with a 6 dex bonus, so it will save you some armor mastery action points if your dex gets high enough.

That's about all I can think of.

i didn't plan that build out too much besides wanting to max strength [starting with 17 str probably would have been better but oh well]

but i'm glad it worked out like that.
