    Default DDO Won't Start!

I just finished downloading and installing DDO, but now when I double-click the desktop icon the loading screen pops up but then nothing happens. What should I do?

A bunch of stuff starts loading but when it says 'Loading Main Form' it stops after a few seconds and then just sits there with no text. Can someone help?

I searched the forums a bit and found some other people who had the same problem, looks like an uninstal/reinstal fixes it.

Make sure UAB is off and you are running NOT in administrator mode.

    Should work.... Good luck

UAB would be a typo for UAC or User Access Control. It's a security feature in Windows Vista that many people turn off because it creates a lot of little windows asking if you really meant to click on that program or if it is trying to run without your permission.

The latest installer for DDO doesn't require you turn off UAC, but it used to and it is still considered nearly a given that you will be happier with it off than with it on.

If the program is installing with your computer set up the way it is, then you don't need to worry about UAC just now. What exactly is your computer doing when you try to load DDO?

Thanx for the info... When I click the icon, the intro screen comes up (not the log-in screen), but then it just freezes and I can't do anything with it. It looks as though its trying to load for a bit, then nothing.

I do have my launcher logs if it would help to view them, but I'm not sure what to do with them. Do I need to "decode"?

All right. In order to help with this, I think we're going to need a little more information, and in order to attract the attention of some of the more knowledgeable members here you'll probably want to start a new thread.

You say the intro screen, by which you mean the little yellow and red screen with a dragon breathing fire on a bunch of logos?

Then you say, "It looks as though its trying to load for a bit, then nothing." In this sentence, what does nothing mean? Is there an error message? Does the program terminate with no messages or errors? Does a taskbar button come up marked "Dungeons and Dragons Online"? Have you checked the task manager to see what processes are running at which times?

How do you open the program? Do you have a shortcut on your desktop or do you go through the start menu? If you use a shortcut on the desktop, which program does it point to?

I'm not sure what your problem is yet, except that you can't get into the game. I'm asking for a lot of information here, and most likely it's not all needed, but something in here may spark someone to say "hey, that's your problem!"

    Default D&D wont start

    Hello,

I have started a new thread on this topic, it is called "launcher freeze".
So, I have tried starting the program from both the desktop shortcut and the start menu.
What happens is that the small yellow and red screen comes up it looks as though the program is going through the process of loading and then it stops and I can see, in white text, "Opening main something something".
Then the screen just stays like that. Forever. No error messges, the program does not terminate.
A button does show up on the taskbar. When I mouseover it, I can see a small screen shot of what appears to be the opening/login scrren for DDO. When I click on it the red and yellow screen sometimes gets more and more transparent until it disappears.
When I check the Task Manager, it lists D&D Online Stormreach as Running.
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
