    Default need help

A little background first, I have a fairly new system, with dx10, when I set it for optimal settings everything is high and all runs smmothly( ok sometimes when meridia is really busy it gets choppy but then I just have to lower everything and all is good.)

I have high speed internet by phone lines.

I just recently changed my home phone provider for an internet phone (saving about 40$ a month on the way)

Since the change I have been experiencing some strange things, I lag out, but not normal lag, I can still see people moving around and I can even participate in voice chat!!!! I can spin around but I do not appear to be moving when I am spinning, all my buffs keep counting down as usual. The only way to fix the problem so far has been to shut down ddo and restart the game, which is as you could guess a real pain in the butt.

    Any suggestions?

FYI my internet connection seems fine when I am surfing, checking mail or playing on game sites like pogo (my wifes version of ddo )

    Post your DXDIAG.

WHo is your internet provider and what speed do you have? Sounds like DSL to me, but there are lots of different speed packages usually for DSL.

    Default Hmmm.

I'd bet that, if the VOIP adapter is between your internet connection and your router, you might be getting hit by whatever QoS is set up in the VOIP adapter.

I do believe my voip is in between the 2, what should I do?

I will display my DXDIAG when I get home this evening if someone can tell me how to do that

i had a problem with my Vonage box inbetween my computer and router and i found out it dont work very well that way. If you dont have a router then get one and connect your voip to the router and your computer to a another port on the router.

You keep saying phone line. does the line look like a regular phone line or is it bigger then a phone line. the bigger line is called CAT5 cable. Do you have a modem connected to your "what you call phoneline" and then does the cable go from that to your computer

regular phone line is what I have, from the jack to the voip and then my modem then my computer IIRC (I am at work so its hard to see it from here ) it is possible there is a thicker cable from the voip to the modem but again I cant see it atm.

You cant have High speed internet with a regular everyday phone line. OK from the Wall connection you will have a Regular phone line that looks like this assuming you have DSL and not cable internet.

then that would go to a Modem with probally 4 or 5 lights on it( I forget what mine had)

From the Modem you either have or computer next or your Voip box

From the Modem the cable looks like this

using the above cable is what you would have connected to your computer and Voip

If not Do you have to Dial a number everytime you access the internet?

my picture making expertise here is what you need if you have DSL or Cable internet. The only difference would be the connection coming into the Modem.

it is a dsl I have, I dont have a router but I am going to pick one up this weekend, for some reason I think my phone line goes to my voip before the modem, going to double check when I get home, hopefully this will fix my problem.

Ok, relief, yeah a router will help out alot it will keep you from runing into problems with playing DDO and your Voip. When I had DSL I was at 1.5 megs and I did having problems with call quality if I was playing DDO and talking on the phone aat the same time.
