    Default any lotro players??

Was just wondering if anyone here had a chance to try out lotro?? If so, what did you think, and how would you compare it to ddo? Do you pay extra for mods?? Not sure what I want to do, was thinking about the free trial to check things out. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated........yahaa

Tried it for a week when it first came out. At the time there were very few players on when I play (mornings, like you). I don't know if that has changed.

One thing I did notice was that there was an awful lot running. Get quest (collect X things), run there, do quest, run back, get second quest (collect Y things), repeat. Perhaps that was just in the early quests, but it put me off pretty quickly.
Shiz - Ghallanda > Orien (Pharoah let my people go!)
Shizmonkey (OG Grand Poo-Bah of R.O.G.U.E. 1st edition) and other various ShizAlts
R.O.G.U.E. Proving Grounds Redux is now defunct. Check out Part Quatre

    Default Yep

Remember asking ya about it shiz..... I am just starting to get bored again. Let's face it, the morning crew is a tight knit bunch, but to be honest with you, I just want more people on when I play. I am sure on any given mmo, I play at the worse time. That will never change, for me anyway. Maybe I should lay off of Crucible....lol..... Just feels like we are isolated from everything that could be done with more peeps..... You know how I get, one day burned out, then the next will want to run everything. I am DREADING leveling up my lowbies. How long did we play em the other day?? 1 hour then we got tired of it. Who knows.... With the downtime today, I will catch ya Tuesday bro.......

Lotro is your standard MMO honestly. Graphically it beats DDO. Seriously. The character designs looks much more polished. Anything you wear shows up graphically on your character, AND you can actually have armor you wear BUT show different armor.

Crafting is very useful, in fact you can pretty much make all of the gear you ever will need. As it is standard MMO, there is a LOT of running around, but after a while you can get a horse (lvl... 35 I want to say) ranged combat actually works there, but don't expect to be able to kite things around like you can here.

There has been only one pay for expansion so far for Lotro. Mines of Moria. (well worth it in my opinion), the rest of the "books" have all been free, much like DDO.

There are actual time sinks in the game vs. the grind that DDO has for uber gear. The hobbies can keep a person going for a while if you enjoy that sort of thing. There are bar hopping quests, amusing debuffs, and the dev community there is pretty much what DDO once had.

Comat is very standard MMO. If you are used to the fast pace semi to full twitch action of DDO, you won't find it anywhere else that I know of yet.

I found it worth checking out. The change in play style is something I've been having fun with.

    ...and ya can go fishing.

    Nobody ever mentions the fishing.

    I loves to fish.

    And play my cowbell.

(when I can boot my boy off the game...)

I tried it long enough to kill two mobs. Does that count?

LOTRO's just a very different game from DDO.

If you love exploring the lands of Middle-earth, you might like LOTRO.
If you love being able to customize your outfit, crafting without having to do much adventuring, cooking, fishing, pipeweed and playing actual music on your musical instruments, you might like LOTRO.
If you like taking it easy while soloing, you might like LOTRO.
If you like listening to people chatting on general chat channels, you might like LOTRO.
If you like playing an orc, spider or warg in PvP, you might like LOTRO.

If you love DDO's active combat system, you may find LOTRO boring.
If you love DDO's character customization, you may find LOTRO restrictive/limited.
If you love being able to solo almost everything (albeit with some effort/good gear), you may find LOTROs' epic quest chains a bit frustrating.
