Smile The Wandering Pilgrim (6F10P) My ideas

Another of my ideas wasn't so fun to play so I decided to work on another one...on paper I really like this character, you guys think it will work out well as designed? I'm really torn between only 2 levels of fighter, or only 4 and the build as listed, but like like Fighterstr2, intim 2 a lot so, not sure)

The Wandering Pilgrim Level 16 Lawful Good Human Male (6 Fighter \ 10 Paladin)
Hit Points: 296 Spell Points: 106 BAB: 16\16\21\26\26
    Fortitude: 23 Reflex: 16 Will: 18

    Str 16 +2 tome, +4 levels, +2 fighter, +1 human+6 items= 31(32 if+3tome)
    Dex 14 +2tome, +6 item = 22
    Con 14 +2tome, +6 item = 22
    Int 12 +1 tome = 13
    Wis 8 +2tome, +6 item = 16
    Cha 14 +2tome, +3 pally, +1 human, +6 item= 26

+1 Tome of Intelligence used at level 1
    +2 Tomes at 16

    Skills (ranks)
    Intimidate 19
    Jump 16
    Balance 9
    Heal 3
    Tumble1

Order Progression: Fighter Levels 1-2, Paladin 3-5, Fighter 6-9, Paladin 10+

Feats (in order, selected feats only)
    Force of Personality
    Toughness, Weapon Focus: Slashing Weapons
    Dodge
    Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Khopesh
    Combat Expertise
    Power Attack
Improved Critical: Slashing Weapons (swap out after GS weapons?)
Improved Trip (considering shield mastery or bullheaded)
    Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons
    Skill Focus: Intimidate

    Enhancements:
    Fighter Haste Boost I
    Unyielding Sovereignty
    Follower of the Sovereign Host
    Human Adaptability Charisma II
    Human Adaptability Strength I
    Human Versatility IV
    Paladin Bulwark of Good II
    Paladin Resistance of Good II
Paladin Extra Lay on Hands I
    Fighter Intimidate II
Paladin Energy of the Templar II
    Paladin Charisma III
    Fighter Strength II
    Paladin Toughness IV

Probably my weakest area of character planning is in crunching all the numbers, I try not to rely on overly uber gear, with the exception of tomes…I get my hands on the +2s I need. I also want every character I make to be able to be a great help to a group, but able to solo as well. Anyways, here is what I come up with on the numbers:

    Intimidate:
    19 ranks
    3 skill focus, Intimidate
    2 Fighter intimidate 2
    5 human versatility IV
    8 charisma bonus
    2 head of good fortune
    15 intimidate item

    54

Armor Class (I grade A suck at computing this on paper)

    10 base
    13 armor
    9 shield
    5 combat exp.
    1 dodge feat
    3 chattering ring
3 aura (bulwark of good II +1 base aura)
    2 chaosguards
    5 protection item

51, 55 with an insight bonus

Oh, and + x amount from a dex bonus, I’m not sure exactly how to calculate those, esp if I take the enhancement lines and if they tack or not with the dagger tooth belt, which would mean farming yet another quest for a solitary item…might end up reworking enhancements for armor mastery if it makes sense.

Without those enhancements, can someone tell me what the dex bonus would be?

Anyway, high 40s rather easily attainable ac. 50s certainly doable, possibly a little higher.
    Dragon Touched plate I just read has a +15 armor bonus…yay. So 2 more…

The hit points, spell points and saves at the top do not account for +6 stat items, things like favor hitpoints, magi items, etc

    Notes:
*Strength will be an even 30 not taking human str unless I pull a +3, to make it 32, which frees up some aps.
*Sword and Board is possibly dead in DDO for the time being, save for someone being able to intimidate everything and turtle up, which makes like easier on the party…but I have a lot of really nice melee weapons (my cleric pulls banishers like mad) that either aren’t finessable, or don’t work out for my other characters for some other reason.
*Reasoning for 6 levels of fighter is the Kensai but unsure if I should drop down to just 4 fighter (or even 2, but that drops 1, or 2 feats) and continue filling up with paladin.
*I never count rage, madstone, etc in my counts because I like to count on what is always or nearly always there. So…con and str could be situationally higher, more so if I put str boosting stats on gs weapons, or for instance, exceptional stat boosts on dt armor, etc. That’s something that I don’t like to bank on.

I’d greatly appreciate feedback…on paper, I think this will be a total blast to play…my new main hit level 9 last night and I’ve figured out a way to make the character better, me thinks. So….character planning is an ever fluid changing world, new ideas are welcome!

You may want to drop paladin charisma 3 and human cha 1 and live with a Charisma of 24.

That will give you 8-10 more action points which you will be needing with all the new prestige class enhancements coming next mod.

What is it that you want to do with this build? Where will you go for levels 17-20?

I note you don't have much DPS potential as is, just pure intimitank?

    Default not sure

Thank you for your recommendations, those are certainly worth considering. How would you suggest for me to increase the dps output? I'm wanting to be an effective party helper, in multiple ways, but intimtaking was a big part of it. I also have some great melee weapons, armor and shields that my rangers can't use....need a character for them or just sell them...rather play a lot of different styles and understand it/enjoy differing aspects of it better

But I was thinking pally on out.

Default Can I get some advice on...

Can I get some advice on bumping up the DPS, guys? I've never had much luck with the making of paladins...maybe I'm too unobservant of my own faith...but in seriousness, I thought I did a better job with this one. I was seeking to make something that would compare with the other builds out there, but a little more of my own personal flavor in them. For instance, Borror0 made "Borror Z'rro - Dwarven Defender" (I don't know how to link and all that, I'm too old to care to learn) and that build has been an inspiration to a lot of people.

Well, the Wandering Pilgrim would have 1, possibly 2 more strength, 4 more con (although if wearing a +6 con item and +2 tome the same) and more charisma, even if I toned it down a notch there. The intimidate would be 5 higher, I'd have no UMD where as Borror has a nice amount of that, and I have fewer feats.

I'm not trying to say my build is better than Borror0's or anything like that, I'm only drawing similarities between my unheard of build and a build that is very well known. His build is like...16 months old so a lot has changed in the game since then, a lot of adaptation is required in a game that changes so drastically. I remember reading about batman builds the first days I played here and...then later reading how the mods had made that rather obsolete.

I'm saying this: Borror Z'rro was a build to be emulated. It inspired a lot of other builds, more than one person learned what the yellow symbol over heads of enemies meant and it served its purpose well.

So...is the Wandering Pilgrim destined for the scrap heap before setting off on his first adventure? Sword and boarding seems less viable, the ac potential of builds like this is no longer something that seems to be really sought after, would this build (mine, obviously I can't speak for Borror's build) or Dexxan's build...Brutus or something like that if I recall correctly) be worth the time and effort in rolling it, or should I just auction house off all those khopeshes I saved for such awhile? Or drop charisma to 12, bump up dex and focus on twf, and only pulling out the shield when intimidating?

First characters I tried to make were paladins...never figured them out lol
