    Default Bard Sorc Spell Books

In the Character dialog, Spell book tab most classes can examine all the spells available, bards and sorc can not.

I think it would be helpful if the bard / sorc spell book mimiced the other caster's books, in allowing all spells to be viewed.

As you get higher level I fiind you want to compare lower level spells to see if there are more useful ones. The only way to examine the other available spells is is to go to a trainer and use an interface that assumes you know which spell level you are trading.

I don't want to change spells, except at the trainer, but would like ot be able to view spells anywhere.

I think this would be handy too

It's like that because bards & sorcs don't have spellbooks. The "spells" tab just lists the spells that particular character has available to them. For bards & sorcs, it's the spells they know. For wizards, clerics, rangers & paladins, it's the spells they can prepare in a tavern or at a shrine. No one's spells tab shows all spells (spells the character isn't high enough level to cast yet aren't shown, nor are spells a wizard hasn't scribed yet).

It would be nice to be able to access a list of all spells while ingame (not sure if there's a way to access the Compendium while ingame, but that might do it), but the Spells tab really isn't the appropriate place for that. For one thing, wizards need to be able to see whether or not they've already scribed that scroll they just looted

Your spell tab doesn't show those spells because your character doesn't know them.

Divine classes are automatically granted and have knowledge of all spells, so they seem them all. Wizards only see spells they have inscribed.

    /not signned, use the compedium.

    You can. Pretty easy:
    1. Alt+Enter
    2. Open FireFox.
    3. Type "ddowiki"
    4. Press Ctrl+Enter
    5. Done

But, ya, to be honest, TechNo's idea is not a totally bad one.

I get why Turbine did it that way, but it'd be cool to not have to go to a trainer or check websites to know what you want.

Yah, it'd be nice, I've wanted to look at other spells before...or maybe look over the list for a particular level as I'm contemplating replacing an existing spell.

If you want to see other spells - go to the Trainer, ask to repsec a spell, pick a spell level, examine any/all, and then cancel the dialog w/o changing anything. It's not that hard to do, with Trainers scattered about everywhere. Since Bards and Sorcs cast their spells spontaneously, it makes no sense from a lore perspective to add this. Especially since you can shop for the spells at the Trainers, as I pointed out.

That is the point of being a bard or caster. The wizard description is that they are the only class that can have all arcane spells learned. Next you or others will want to be able to swap out spells just like a wizard. This is one of the minuses for a sorcerer that helps balance out the wizard.

He is not asking for them to be learned and known, he is asking to be able to see them and ponder about which he may want to respec into.

From a RP perspective, view it as the sorcerer knowing the existence of the spell but not knowing how to cast it.

    I'll /sign

I see no harm in it and I often have to pull up the wiki or my printouts for no other reason than a quick reference, verification or explanation.

    Can't help. Couldn't hurt.

Well, that's kind of silly. Any PnP bard or sorc could carry a written list of spells other bards & sorcs could cast. The OP wasn't asking for an easier way to swap spells, just to see what they were. The Spells tab probably isn't the best place for such a list, and some suggestions have been made for using currently existing methods to access the list, but there's nothing unbalancing about being able to look at a list of spells at will.

Most of the time I find I am killing time waiting for a party to fill, so I run to the trainer and browse the spells.

If I take focus away from DDO to view use a browser I lose sound, so no voice chat while checking spells.

Other casters spells tab would not change (or a spells icons could show if it is unscribed, scribed or memorised).

As the functionality already exists, would take little modification and testing to implement for two additional classes, the Spell tab appears the best place from a SW design point of view.

I would suggest some kind of in-game lore master where one can review spells. Perhaps someone stationed in the Portable Hole? Just some place where you can run and read up on the spells available to a particular class.

    Maybe a library?

That's probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen today, thusfar. You get a prize for that.
