Default individual Volume Sliders for party members (again)

Since we have a suggestion forum lets see if we get any responses from people in the know.

Just posting this again in the new forum...
I think it would be nice to have volume sliders you can adjust client side for other members of your party. Peoples audio cards are all over the map as are their tweaking skills. Take alot of the guess work out of trying to help somone when sometimes it may not even be their fault they are quiet or loud. Let us on the recieving end either boost their volume or reduce it. Maybe I would like to hear the raid leader over the guy eating fritos with his mic on voice activation.

Sorry to keep bringing this up but without people bringing things up we wouldnt have anything new happening.

    Thanks for your patience.

I know I'd like this. I party with my sister (who's in another city) and my husband (who's right next to me). She's too quiet on the mic and I'd love to turn her up. I'd also like to turn my husband's voice right down so that I don't have to hear him say things twice. Squelching is a pain in the neck since we can't trade with each other, etc.

    Please....gods of the 12 and 6.....yes.

I was recently on an adventure with a good player who was so loud I had to go ears only, and later, when voice was required, I had to /squelch him. He was so loud that he was blasting my ears, and nothing seemed to help.

I could turn my entire volume down, and only hear him (and no one else), or have him adjust his gain, where as I and one other could hear him, two others could not, and the last person felt it was unchanged....

We really need individual volume controlls in this game!

A volume Normalizer would be sufficient... kinda the way an ipod matches volumes across all the songs.

But my curiosity is why I have to have my voice volumes on 100% and all my sound effects etc on .05% or they are so loud I can't hear anyone else speak.

Really? Why would this be a bad thing? I know I have been playing for 3 years and still have issues at times and would love the ability to do this.

This is a great feature on vent, and would be awesome in game as well.

Seriously, the volumes (effects vs voice) are completely out of balance.

this has been addressed in the past.

from memory the reason this isn't feasible is because of the way the gamespy chat system we use works.

Whoever is in charge of sound design needs to be fired or fix the sounds in the game. A normalizer would be a bad idea because some people are so soft and hard to hear the really loud people are so impossible to take... we would end up with a soup sound. A slider between the HP and PP bars for volume of voice [default set in the UI settings] would be a great addition.

Please. I think it's the best UI change you could do, ever.

While I can't disagree in principle, I don't actually believe this is a trivial change.

No doubt.. the best solution is likely to rip out gamespy and replace it with a module that has useful features (and works well!!!).

Depending on how it was integrated, it may actually be a relatively simple thing to do. Chances are it wasn't integrated with the intention of pulling it out & replacing later on, so it very well could be a significant effort... one that would be well worth it.

Kurrupt would you like to expand your opinion a bit rather then a /notsigned? I value everyones opinion even people who dont agree with the right one . hehe JK.

Quick fix just tell the person with a loud voice to turn down their Gain a bit, and give them direction on how to do it while telling them. If you can't hear someone then tell them to turn up their gain. Now, if that person says they already tried turning up or down their gain, then give them directions on how to set their mic in Windows.

If you can not give the person direction on how to do any of the above then I suggest you learn and if everybody learns then we would not need to do any of the above and we wouuld not need to add individuals volume sliders in DDO.

    Theboz,
That is all well and good, in theory. We all dont have the same sound cards which pick up our voice different. We all have different microphones which pick up air splatter different if at all. First you get everyone to buy the same sound card and microphone then we can train everyone. I think it would be simpler to fix DDO rather then the above. Have you tried telling somone their voice is coming across bad? You can spend at least 10 minutes trying to explain to somone where to find the +20db boost in windows. How about trying to talk the person into using push to talk that pays no attention to his mic keying up everytime he has a nasal wistle. In fact try going into a single classroom of people and teaching them how to set up their audio in 5 minutes, I bet you cant do it. So please dont tell us we need to train people so we all can have fun without our equipment or ears blowing up unless you are willing to set a date and time where everyone can meet for your public training session.
