Very few people pvp at all, even fewer take it seriously, and even fewer people even care about it. Until pvp has leader boards or some sort of reward for doing it, I don't see this section of the forums having many posts. I happen to love pvp and am sad its not as big as it is in other games.
Leader boards is coming!!! I am hoping that pvp will have more fan!! Most people dont like pvp cause they die! Build a pvp toon and come enjoy it. Sulu on elite is cake compare to Tukaw or Bigh. It comes a point where u dont get challenge in PVE... get it in PVP. Most player never reach that point and i respect that. Its a pleasure to play with those... agroing 3 beholders at once on way to Hound cause i want challenge... and listening to them crying cause they died. Nah, they wont cry but would be mad and call me noob! isnt it ironic.
Here is what u need to like PVP.
- evasion
- self healing on quicken
- specialisation (fire, elect, smiting) on empower + maximise
- Respect to make it a fair match... (PWS on a 1v1 is no fun) (80 guard damage vs no resist toon is no fun, well its fun once.. then ill give him resist)
The uberness of your toon help a lot, but still u need skills!!
Tips #180: "you can dodge ray spell by movin sideway. Look at the animation of the spellcaster." This result in a dance between two players. You need to anticipate your opponent moves and make your moves less predictable. Dam its fun versus good dancer.. heee pvper. There is the same kind of dance with axe too.
Landing a good trip to finish your opponent need again good anticipation and skill.
When you got the toon and the skills, dices settle the match... who will be the first to land 2 crit in a row. Well in mod 6, it was the first to crit. In mod 8, i need 2 crit in a row vs good player. Cant wait to see mod 9 mathematics.
Plz keep this threat for those who like pvp. Seen enough post with no love about pvp.
See you in lobster!
PS: Bigh, King of PVP! I agree. I wonder how leaderboard will work. I fear that as king of pvp, we will have hard time finding challengers. No challenger = no point to leaderboard. Maybe our 15 matchs a week will help.
Tukaw (Sorc 16/ pally 2/ rogue 2) + Tukah (Cleric 20)+Tukaa (Bard 19 / Barb 1)+Tukab (Barb 14/ fighter 2)+Tukas (Sorc 20)+Tuka (Pally 16)+Tukaq (Sorc 12/ pally 2/ rogue 2) + Tukal(Wiz11/Rogue3/Ranger6)
Yes this is mainly why I pvp, sure running shroud and vod on elite is fun and all but after awhile it gets dry. Pvping someone who can react and think and come up with new ways to beat ya is what pvping is all about.
And yes pvp does get boring after awhile too sadly since not many people are into it. Im glad that they're some new updates for it coming out and hope that they continue to improve it

I agree that I am not a good player vs player so I don't do it. Eventually I will focus on it more. Having a leaderboard might help me but the questions is how would you do it.
Option 1:
SOme kind of points system for every win. 1 point vs some lower level, 3 points same level and 7 above your level. Here the problem is not everyone will play it as often. So someone who just does it alot will be on top.
option 2:
Same as option one but you lose 2 points a loss (or some set amount, or an amount based on your level difference).
Option 3:
Leader of the pack.
In this my favorite way to do a scoreboard everyone is originally all given a ranking form 1 to ....(however many players) whether they pvp or not. It is randomly assigned at the beginning and all new characters start off as highest number on the server. Now you can challenge anyone. In the board it has their rank and player level. If you win you switch spots. So if 15th place challenges 4th and loses he stays in 15th. If he wins he goes to 4th and 4th goes to 15th. The idea that is fun with this one is noone really ever has a lead. If you do a point system someone can eventually be soo high noone will challenge them. In this system here you always have players challenging higher level players. I have seen it done in many other formats and it worked well. Sometimes the leaders start dodging players and I have seen limits on how many times you can turn down different people before you have to accept or forfeit. SO if you decline 3 challenges then you have to take the next. In this game there should be a delay option, like will accept in 15minutes , 30 minutes, 45 minutes (so the player can finish the quest they are in). To be honest not sure all the modifications to this that people would want to have. the best way i did it had no rules really. They said you can challenge anyone and they had to accept then you had a week to arrange a time.
Option 4:
Leaderboard based off number of kills. This again benefits the frequent player more then the good player. This could be modified to be the player with the largest percentage of wins vs losses.
If their was a leaderboard I might take it seriously as the truth is I love to win and having a place assighned to your player would push me to care about pvp and spend some time in it. As of now I see no reason to do it and have only tried a little. Yes, i did get killed and very quickly but just blew it off saying I will work on it later.

Oh boy here comes the Neg Rep I can smell it in the air...oh well Im use to it by now,
YOU ALL NEED TO TAKE YOUR BUTTS BACK TO WARCRAP AND DONT LOOK BACK IF YOU WANT PVP!!! There I said it bring it on.
I N M P H (F) O, (and im sure a lot of ex-WoW players and some of the oldschool ddo players will agree) PVP has NO place in DDO! The tavern brawl areas and challanges are more than enuff! PVP is one of the main reasons I left WoW(arcrap) and know others have left it for DDO for the same reason. It completely ruined the roleplay of the game and if we get leaderboards scorecards and all that crappage IT WILL RUIN this game also for me and a LOT of others besides dont we have enuff already people crybabing over the tavernbrawling just what we need eeveryone crybabing over pvp-ing
