One of the greatest things about this particular setting is the seedy noir edge that was integrated into the setting, in the beginning of the game, this was a bit more present, but as things progress it is slowly starting to edge more and more toward standard fantasy...not that it is a bad thing, but I would love to see more plot lines based on the inherent intrigue and paranoid power struggles between the houses. I would also love to see the absent houses start to make more of a prescence in Stormreach. We have mention of House Thuranni and Thrask as well as mention of a few others, but still not a lot. Xendrik is a the wild frontier and I just can't imagine that there isn't more of a shadowy struggle for superiority going on. The noir aspect...espionage, secrets, underhanded betrayal, the city torn apart from within...these are the things that make the setting what it is.
I read a lot of cries for balance and equality for casual gamers and power gamers alike, I think that quests that focus more on the plot and less on the kill count might achieve this, something that forces the player to think, work out the evolving conspiracy, and not get killed for backing the wrong side, perhaps even in the context of solo side quests, a personal quest line that will influence NPC reactions to the character throughout the city, effect favor standing, and perhaps open doors to other and bigger things while closing them elsewhere.
just a thought
