If you were refering to my comment in any sort of way, I would like to point out that I was pointing out the obvious.

    Let me list this:

Processor: P4 1.6 GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
    Memory512 MB RAM
GraphicsCard 64 MB Hardware T&L -compatible video card
    NetworkConnection 56.6 K modem
    SoftwareWindows XP, DIrectX 9
DiscSpace 3GB, 5GB for high resolution

    Recommended System Requirements:

Processor P4 3.0GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
    Memory 1GB RAM
Graphics Card GeForce FX or better with 128MB of memory
Network Connection Cable Modem or DSL connection
    Software Windows XP, DirectX 9
Disc Space 3GB 5GB for high resolution
That is taken from the website. It clearly states what operating System the game is designed to run on. I understand the game should work fine on Vista, and I am sure some are even playing it on Vista. However, you can't run around saying you're going to sue a company for not supporting something that they clearly point out is something that isn't supported by the software.

EDIT: I would also suggest taking down (edit the post) all of your system information. I trust this community, but it might be easy to get something from that information that would allow someone to exploit your system. Thats my helpful hint. Good luck mate.

Vista and DX10 are indeed fully suported by DDO now. Your list there is MINIMUM/Recomended requirements.

Looking at the time and date stamps of your posts.
I have one suggestion. The game servers are currently down till around 4:00 eastern time. So even if you have a flawless set up the game won't run.

The DDO Game Servers will be offline for maintenance on Monday, February 9th from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern (-5 GMT). The forums and wikis will remain up. Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you back in the game soon!

Update: We have to extend the window to 4:00 PM. Sorry for the inconvenience!

True, however it isn't stated anywhere on the requirements website (which is where you download).

Ok Impaqt, updates did not stop the load screen drops, so I will attempt to connect directly into my dsl modem.

My service is Centurytel, 20 Mbps connection, and I have a netgear router RP 614v4, if that all helps.

    Here we go.

Just to reiterate Baylensman's post - the servers are down right now, you will not be able to connect until you see the notice at the top of the forum main page.

614's are prone to failure. they overheat easily and arent construct very well.

Look into Netgears Prosafe line or Linksys/Cisco Business class.

Hmm...I switched from Linksys, was having major problems with their routers, but at that time I was using Comcast, who was also filtering.

I ran a direct connect and then logged in, running around into stores and whatnot to try and freeze up during load screen with no problems occurring, so it is somewhere in the settings of my router.

So is anyone familiar with how to set up a router for DDO then? i did what the techs said and setup port forwarding and even set myself outside into the DMZ, all which have not eliminated the load screen drops I keep having, while connected through a router.

You should not have to do anything special to any router to play DDO. the default settings should work fine. DO a full factory Reset on your router (Usually Applying power while holding the reset button) and try it again. and double check to make sure there arent any firmware updates on Netgears sit for your model.

Exceptions in router tables are only necessary when there have been modification to the restrictions already. Often a Server Providers router will have some built in restrictions, but usually it comes down to something faulty in the router itself when things go wonky.

$39.99 Routers w/ $40 MIR's arent worth the aggrivation. Spend a few bucks more and get a quality product.

I hear ya, have one more thing to try with the router. I turned of the DMZ and other stuff and am trying something Netgear suggested, so I will post what the results were.

    Again, thanks.

You must have something configured wrong on your router. But just to help out a little I did some searching on the internet and found this article. It lists the ports used by DDO. Make sure those are all opened outbound and you should be golden. Not sure how recent this info is, but it might help.

    --------------------------------------

    Port forwarding and DDO

Normally, you don't need port forwarding for DDO because the client always sends to the server before the server tries to respond. In most NAT firewalls, this implicitly triggers a port forward from that server to your client.

TCP port 80, UDP Ports 2900-2910, 9000-9010 are the SERVER's ports. They need to be opened out-bound.

When configuring port forwarding explicitly, you need to specify the CLIENT's port. By default, the client lets the operating system choose its port. If you edit your UserPreferences.ini (My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online\UserPreferences.ini), you'll see a section titled [Net]. There's an entry there for UserSpecifiedPort, which defaults to 0. Set that value to something else (like 9000), and then forward that port to your computer (either by port forwarding or by a trigger).

Okay, I think i found the problem, I switched a setting as per instructed by netgear, and I went and ran around to areas I always get load screen disconnects from and made it through no problem. Netgear Routers, not sure about others, have a setting that needs to be checked whenever you have an Xbox live or PS3 on the network called SPI Firewall. Apparently it checks all packets being sent or recieved.

When I checked it, as per the instructions for setting up online gaming, I was able to play without load screen drops. So, if you are having this problem and use a Netgear RP614v4 router, then check and see that that option is checked. I do believe this was the problem but I could be wrong. I do know it helped so far and I will be keeping my eye on it over the next few days as I play.

Now I know I wasn't the greatest explainer here, but when people have been having a problem for over a year, not receiving any good help, like I did just in today's posts, it can make a person aggitated. Especially when the other MMO's can be played without any problems. Remember we aren't all tech geeks, nerds or programmers and network administrators.

I realize my tone did not help, but if you are not going to aid a person, there is no sense in making comments that only make a person feel stupid or even more dumb.

Now, maybe someone at Turbine could add a wiki compendium on such attempts at correcting network problems by other players, so that if someone else needs to look up the information it is readily available and without much hunting. I know this is a lot to ask, but imagine if I would have had a few quick link sections to known issues and possible problems. As Impaqt showed, I was able to take his direction and then search on my own after I knew whatI may be up against. Within hours we had a fix, and I have been searching for over a year.

Thanks to TheBoz and Impaqt, you two helped immensely and I apologize for any aggravation.

Im kinda curious as to why you think a Dxdiag, can be used to exploit his system. If that was true then I guess the thousands upon thousands of people from many different games and many different programs that rely on troubleshooting from a DXdiag would be exploited by now. In your mind then How are people to troubleshoot a computer over the internet, without knowing a thing about what type of drivers and system setting that are on a someones computer Do you even know what a DXdiag is? And Can you find one thing that could lead to exploiting his system? Does it show any personal information? Does it show any IP addresses, Mac or router information?

As for Calydin, Thank you for posting your Dxdaig, I know it problaly would not help in your case so much, but it helped us make sure there was nothing else proventing you playing DDO. You have to understand, this forum, its here for you to post tech problems and for other user to help. I like to help people, but when people post their frustrations, it makes it hard to help. I understand your frustration, you want to play, thats understandable. but, step back, take a deep breathe and relax.

I have sometime spent many hours diagnosing problems on here, sometimes I.ve help and sometimes, I could never find answer, or somebody else had the same problem or had more knowledge and solved the problem. We are here to help, Im sorry I treated you like a kid, but in the end it helped you get on the track too fixing your connection problem. I hope to see you in the game....

Im glad you are making some progress, I would suggest to do a reset of your router as a previous poster had mention. Also, if you can turn off your Vista firewall, if you need help with that, then ask and I or someone else would be glad to help.

As for my post ealier, I wanted to finish the directions, but I was running late for work and had to post what I had written....

No biggie, like I said I was frustrated, you all just tried to help.

BTW, that seems to have done it, I just played two hours non-stop with no disconnects whatsoever. So if you hear of someone else with that same problem, and same sort of setup and router, then we can suggest this as a try now too. Woo Hoo! Finally!

    Default Irony is...

    hehe

So because of the lighter side of life, and the occasional quirk, we see a perfect example of irony.

Irony is...finally getting a good solution, after a year, and being able to hardcore game, only to have the servers go down! *humbly bows* Thanks Universe for reminding me of how truly small we are.
