Default Graphics options keep getting reset

Every time I load up DDO high-res client it resets the graphics to their lowest settings of 960x600 etc. Generally the Adv Graphics tab will retain the settings, but the main "Graphics" tab always resets to default. While not a game breaker its really annoying to have to set them back every time.

I am an administrator on the PC however I am on a domain with My Documents mapped out to a network drive. Not sure if this would have any impact on this however. I also gave "Full Control" to all users for the entire Turbine folder and its sub contents. I have checked for a config type file in the Turbine directory structure for a place to hard code the settings but was unable to locate a file that has these settings. I have checked the registry for Turbine related settings but again was unable to locate anything that looked useful.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

Find the userpreferences.ini file, make a copy of it in notepad and then delete the original. When you go to run DDO, it will reinstall a fresh copy of the file. If it does not, you have the back up on your notepad. After the fresh copy, you should be able to save your settings.

If you put all the files in a public folder for everyone to use (correct me if i wrong on that) and they have full rights it sounds like someone keeps hitting the default button for their low end machine.

Now, considering the adjustments you make, key mapping, video setting, etc are held in your my documents folder why these changes are showing up on your machine is beyond me.

Unless DDO only uses the my documents folder it created at startup. (i.e. yours)

I remember someone a long time ago had the exact same issue, what the final verdict was I assuming that you can not use a network drive to save DDO userprofiles to it, it has to be a on the same computer.

The userpreferences.ini file is in the 'My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online - Stormreach' folder. I don't know of any reason why having your 'My Documents' folder on another computer should change anything as long as you have permission to edit files there, but TheBoz usually knows what he's talking about.

Resolution and many other settings are stored in the userpreferences.ini file, so maybe you just need to hand-edit it in notepad and then run the game with whatever settings you like?

Well then that is the problem right there. I checked and there is no Dungeons and Dragons Online folder of any kind in My Documents. It must be due to the UNC path I am using for My Documents. Since I am also a admin of the domain I will change this to a mapped drive path instead of UNC. Ill post back the results.

    Default Fixed

I wasnt able to change my folder redirection to a non UNC path however I was able to fix the problem. What I did was log into the local computer as administrator then launch DDO, configure the settings how I want them and log out. Next I logged back into my domain account and copied the Dungeons and Dragons Online - Stormreach folder from the local admin My Documents on the C drive to my current redirected My Documents. When I logged in the settings were correct so apparently it can read properly from a UNC path but not write.

Thanks to all who helped by responding.
