    Default Reverse Engineer Crafted Weapons

Is there a way to reverse engineer shroud crafted weapons?

At this point in the game, I am very displeased with crafting. Spending uncountless hours to collect ingredients, only to rely on a unooficial DDO website for recipes. Yes my recipe came out wrong.

Why doesnt Turbine post these recipes themselves!!! This is rediculous to make a game and keep players in the dark on how to do things!! The only thing left for capped players to do, and you have to half-guess at it.

After all that grinding going into something I didnt want, I am just about burnt up on this game!

Where did you get that recipe? Because the thread in the User Written Game Guides named "Stone of Change Eldritch Rituals Cookbooks" is 100% accurate as it was made by people from all the servers.

You had to place an ingredient in the stone of change by mistake. I have crafted many items and never had an issue with any of the player built references. They have been 100% correct thus far to me and no one I play with has made any comment about crafting something wrong.

Theres nothing wrong with any of the third party sites I've seen. then again I usually just stick with the ddo wiki. Crafting is pretty far from rocket science but it is a little tricky and its easy to make a mistake.

Don't feel bad though, I think most people mess up at least once when crafting. It creates a horible pit in your stomach at the time but thats a necessary pre-condition for the warm glow you get when it all comes out perfectly.

Plus it makes the process a bit nail biting (Did I really do it all correctly?)

What I would really like is something I can use all those spare medium ingredients for.

    Default It would be cool

It would be cool if you could actually sell your mistakes on the AH. I have several Supreme shards that I messed up due to either drunk crafting or inattention to detail.

Or possibly being able to give them away to somebody that can use them but does not have the larges to spend may even be better. I blame nobody but myself for the errors, but it would be nice to help somebody else out by "handing" them a fully upgraded shard IMHO.

Any thoughts on that? The trading not selling portion I mean.

Thumbs down I hate this game anymore!!!

Im am seriously one step from cancelling my account, just to find fun somewhere else!!!

I tried to make a second replacement weapoin, using a differnet recipe, it screwed and I'm P-O'd!!!

    Important note for new players:

Dont plan any anything exciting with crafting for about a year after u start the game. And then only if you can get your top toon up to cappped level in 6 months. You will spend uncountless hours grinding for thing for too complecated for the average players. To add insult to injury, you will need a couple capped characters, just to get a descent start on crafting.

So to sum it up newbies give it 1-2 years before you even see anything good out of your hard work. In other words plan on the rest of your gamein life to get somewhere in this game, and lots of grinding!
Your only other chioce is to spend 8 hours a day, everyday, and make sure you catch your shroud raid everytime its due. Else you will be wasting your time!!!

    I screwed up.... THREE times.

1st time I made a Necklace (moved it to an alt and adjusted)
2nd time when I was upgrading My Goggles
3rd time made a Hammer unstead of a Rapier.... it's sitting in my bank.

    Did I get mad? No

I told everyone in my chat channel so they'd get a big laugh.

.... which of course.... they did...

Slight adjustment needed to that quote.

"I tried to make a second replacement weapoin, using a differnet recipe, *I* screwed up again and I'm P-O'd!!!"

As others have posted. The recipies are listed on several websites. We've all probably crafted some wrong items, etc. I personally tried to craft a rapier and made a greatsword. It's because I used the wrong item. I then successfully crafted the rapier only to screw up the first tier. Then I crafted another rapier, and screwed up on the second tier. *NONE* of those were the games fault, nor the crafting/wiki websites. Coming from experience, I recommend going to one of the crafting websites, and write down, on paper, everything you need to craft, double check your recipie, maybe even confirm with a guildie, then take your time. It really isn't that hard, and there's nobody to blame but yourself. I'm sure if you posted what you are trying to craft someone would even be kind enough to write out the igredients/steps you would need to craft your item and shards. Take a deep breath, perhaps use the /facepalm emote, learn from your mistakes, and give it another go. I'm sure the item you meant to craft will be worth the effort. Maybe even give a little praise to the people who spent their time crafting all the different items so you could simply pick from a list. Just imagine..

"Oh neat. I crafted tier 3 and I get 2 charges of chain-lightning. whoopie! *Krakadooom* and I just did 600 points of electric damage! *Yeah!*"
    Unsub'd.

It's the poor craftsman who blames his tools.

I'm an average player - and have not messed up on crafting because I follow the guides to the letter, and if I am ever confused on anything I ask somebody before I craft.

    Give your source.
As people mentioned all of the crafting sites I've ever used work 100% and the few errors I have made are because of my own inattention. Luckily the only error I made was giving someone else a recipe

If you're too hasty, unprepared, not double checking, sure errors can occur but I've 1 fully upgraded item and a second very close to finished a double tier three without a hitch so far.

Don't blame the game for your mistakes.
Turbine didn't give you the recipe, nor put in the wrong ingredients so how are they to blame for any of this? There are plenty of legit sources and there have been more than enough weapons and items crafted in game so far to verify so it's all on the user.

This information is incorrect. I can name dozens of folks that have starting their greensteel items within a few weeks or months of starting the game. This game is intended to be a group game. Join a good guild and there will be plenty of guildies helping you flag and craft the first couple of tiers in a few weeks.

Second, proper crafting just takes a bit of attention to detail. I have crafted over a dozen items, and only made one mistake using one of the crafting guides. The mistake was mine.

It becomes obvious based on your posts that attention to detail is not your strong suit, but don't blame the game. Just take your time and take some PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for your own errors. Ask folks for help if you need it, but don't post erroneous information for new players.

I have played most MMO's since the Beta of UO in 1997. This crafting system is different from most, but it is not more complicated than many. On the other hand it is not simplistic, and the game itself is more difficult to master than most. That's a good thing.

I didn't blame anyone, I am just tired of speding 50 hours to work on something very minor in the game, and not achieve my results. If fact you have just made up my mind. I wanted Turbine to respond to my posts, more then some elitist power gamer, like most on these forums, with smart mouths unchecked!

Thanks Turbine for the fun....but i do not intend to spend the another 2 years getting something out of my fun! Time for something new...thx to all who know me.

    I am cancelling my account!

Yes there is a way to reverse engineer a crafted weapon. That would be look at the qualities the item/weapon has and match those to one of the several crafting guides out there. For example, if you crafted a greatsword and wanted a rapier.. you used a power cell instead of a large horn.

And what could Turbine have said that could have caused you not to cancel your account. "Sorry you screwed up, here is a fully upgraded item of your choice."? You spend 50 hours collecting the ingredents for your item, but you won't spend 20 minutes double checking your recipie? And when you craft, you won't spend 30 seconds double checking that you have everything correct for that part of the recipie? Sorry, but you get very little sympathy from me. Sounds like your idea of crafting is telling an npc what you want, handing over some plat, and getting the item you want.

If my response makes me a smartmouthed elitiest powergamer, so be it. But then again, I have made many gs item, dual shareded 4 of them and never made a mistake just because I double check my stuff and I used Camboe's guide from these forums for all of them.
