Default Game Lag on this server

Turbine what seems to be the problem with this server, and lagg/packet loss? You have told us all that it is not your servers that it is our computers. Im here to challenge that theroy, and Im sure that everyone posting after this will have similar views. I just got out of a Stormcleave run where the packet loss was up to 18%. I asked in guild chat if ohers were lagging and got responses of the same nature in game at other locations. This problem is getting worse,to the point of being unacceptable to your customers. I feel that the Entire turbine team needs to look at this problem and then get an aggressive plan to fix the problem or problems. After a plan has been adopted please keep us, your customers informed of progress. Its time to take a look at this and quit blaming all of our computer systems for the issues with the lagg/packet loss.

    Thankyou ~Koronuss~

I agree... Turbine i'm calling you out.. We are paying for a game that we cannot play. What do you think is the next step for most of us??

    My setup
Intel Quad core @ 3.2 (for you technical nerds - yes i'm aware the game is not coded to use the other cores)
    4GB of ram
    8800gtx

More than enough for this game i would think.

    My connection 25Mb(down)/4Mb(Up)

I'm sure others have much better systems having problems.

Sorry, I'm in game on Thelanis right now with no lag trouble at all. So it is not universal.

The issue may not be universal, but it is widespread enough to be affecting all the servers and a greater majority of players.

I was just saying in another thread, while i dont doubt that there are those with issues, its just strange that i'm not. If this was on Turbine's end, we would all be suffering. Mebbe it is i dunno, this sounds like and ISP thing. Wondered what would happen if we compared Trace reports and Isp info?

Default Same here pathetic lagg .

Since that hotfix in the spring its been going downhill at a steady rate .

Seems to me that its quite disrespectfull for the customers that have been there for a long time to be told theres a hardware upgrade when in fact it was a downgrade cause everyone has worse lagg .

Its the pr department job to tell everything is beautifull and fine and call it an upgrade .But in real life when everyone is having worse performances its an insult to your customers intelligence to call that an upgrade .

Now you know why they wanna purge the forums because they keep fumbling the ball and they dont want people to keep track of it .

Just like the pr department said their would be more content with each mod without monthly update it was an outright lie again very sad to have such a low opinion of the intelligence of your cutomers .

If it meows like a cat walks like a cat and eats like a cat its prolly a cat but turbine keeps telling us its a dog .

    Good job pr department.

You wanna know how this game was before go to youtube and look at the old raids and listent to the peopel talking you de never hear not once lagg spike NOT once just go see for yourselves ladies and gents.

youtube or google whatever floats your boat .

Yup - coordinating guild inputs - it appears we have none or some (which is never good) loss in the public instances and in quest instance it is either fine or horrible. Each new instance brings reports of some fine, some horrible, and its that way for different people. That is we have almost all seen both fine and horrible tonight.

Turbine will take this one opinion and say "see his is fine so it must be our thousands of other customers pcs that are the issue". Dude it is widespread enough to be an issue on their end not ours so if you are truly in game stop trolling and play. I bet you have trouble finishing higher level quests though as the loss will affect the rest of your party.

No one in my guild or group is reporting any trouble and i've been watching my numbers, i haven't gone above 0% loss at all. Latency is up in the 50's as opposed to high 30's, but I can live with that.

This is what happens when you lease from AT&T (American Telegraph and Telesuck). No diverse routes that offer good reliability. I mean, Turbine, you are leasing fiber bandwidth from a TELEGRAPH company? hello?

How could it be our computers when my friends and I have had the same computers since buying this game, and the lag has gotten worse and worse. Sure the game is alot bigger now, but to offset that, there are alot less on as well now.

Good luck with them answering this thread lol

I have also noticed That the worst Times for the lagg/loss is peak times (mid day to evening). You wait to play later in the evening (12pm CST or later) the game then starts running smoother. Also people please remember this is not to attack Turbine its simply asking for a change and some answers for paying customers. So lets keep the conversation constructive. Thankyou

    Default There is no lag

Boy: Do not try to measure the lag; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth.
    Memnir
    : What truth?
    Boy
    : There is no lag.
    Memnir: There is no lag?
    Boy
: Then you will see, it is not the server that lags, it is only yourself.

15-20% packet loss all last evening... over half the guild was reporting the same problem, and a few almost logged due to being unable to play.

Not just thelanis... its widesread and rampant on khyber too...

To those who see no issues and those who see few issues:

Similar sorts of things happen in phone-ish outages even in VOIP systems. If a trunk goes down, just one part of the phone system, you can see crazy issues where some of the calls are dropped and some are degraded. I'm curious if Turbine might be having similar issues, but if it were some kind of failure like that, it seems to me they would have found and repaired it by now, or aren't even looking...

As for anyone who thinks it's the machines:

What? Seriously must be kidding. If it is the machines with the hardware we're running, I would like to know what those without lag are running so that I can go buy it. Quadcore, 4 GB of ram and a GB of video ram, connection speeds up 1 MB and down 8-10, what are you saying is bad about this? This isn't just my machine, this is a snapshot of what other posters are claiming.

The problem is too widespread, too many Operating Systems, too much hardware. Let's check out Occam's Razor for a minute (not the guild, the actual wisdom behind it). The simplest option is most often the correct one. How many ISPs do we use accross how many states and how many machines where the blame is being placed, while there is one common theme between all complaints: We play the same game.

I lag in small instances by myself where there isn't a thing to cause it. I'm playing a single barbarian in a small low level instance with that kind of hardware. What should cause the lag on my end?

Rule # 1 in software development (and there's only one rule): Any problems you experience have nothing to do with our software!
