Mute shroud runs....why!?!?!

Half the time in quests like the shroud where I need no instruction, I just hit the mute key. It seems to always be the one guy with the loudest mic that talks the most.

That said, I did enjoy some of the A&O conversations before their raids disappeared off the face of the earth. Keep it interesting and a bit dirty and I may avoid muting.

I like communication. I want to be able to hear whats expected of me, if i dont already know. I like to know if something happens and i need to be aware of it. I like to just sit back, and mind numbingly play the game without fear of having to listen to that all too quiet person (me most of the time when i do speak).

That being said, i also enjoy joining groups where i know no one, everyone else knows each other, there's lots of bantering, bickering, hobnobbing (is that a word? lol) Bull crapping, ribbing, etc going on.

Some days you are in the mood and some days you arent, and ive been around long enough to know which people, which guilds are what kind of folks, and whether my head can handle joining at that particular moment.

Most of all i like to listen. You'd be amazed at what you hear when you just listen. The average person thinks that they have secrets and most of the time they are so wrong lol.

Being a complete idiot apparently it took me years to get my headset/mic working so i can talk. It's still new to me, so if i'm quiet, it could be the wife is sleeping, or it could just be i forget to chime in with some useless comment about something i know nothing about. Mostly i feel i dont have anything relevant to say so i just keep my mouth shut.

I will say this, squelch is my friend tho, i have very few people on squelch, most of them are the one's that endlessly talk about how much more they know than another, how great their build is (all of them) even the one's not on their accounts that they are playing at that moment, how its always someone elses fault when they die etc. I just wish squelch would follow them around, to every toon they ever play, so i dont get surprised when they say, "hey@@@#!!! havent talked to you for a while". Yeah, there's a reason buddy, /squelch lol.

I think the /squelch command is account-wide. Won't help you filter out those with multiple accounts, but it'll get you 1/2 or 1/3rd of the way there!

I like the funny stuff, hate the boring me me me talk, dislike over leading, nothign worse than the insanely competant group and the leader is still giving out instructions.

On Ghal often we share youtube links during shroud, and I'm basically just annoying as hell no matter what quest I'm in.

I usually listen to music on every part except 2 now. Not so loud I can not hear, but it is better than watching portal or Harry's health bar.

and it's a pet peave of mine when you run with a player who feels the need to keep the entire party in the loop of his gaming experience. "those blades just hit me for 30!!", "i critted him good, WOW AGAINS!", "i am running him around the tree, he can't get me, oooops he got me, ok now he can't get me", "it only took me three jumps to get the puzzle, i messed it up the first time but i got it back right away. anyone need help, i am really good at these?"

OMG this made me pee a little - hilarious!!!

A couple of guildies and I thought it would be funny to get drunk and make level 1 guys and group in PUGs and just start role playing without telling anyone what we were doing. "Pardon me, fair maiden, but may I place my hands upon thee and imbue the blessings of the Flame?" We might not ever do it, but it makes us laugh really hard to think about the reactions we would get!

I have you ALL trumped on that issue. I did a TR yesterday on a lowbie of mine, and omfg the leader of the group made us ROLL PLAY for 1 1/2 hours! I mean things like he felt tired from healing, so he needed to use the shrine, to making everyone stealth around. I had to move my mic away from my mouth or I would have cried laughing. He was even asking us to "imigane Gary G. in his grave laughing at us", so Yeah I dont like the Super quiet Children of Corn Shroud runs either, BUT COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS! lol, ok that is all I have for now.

Gotta be the same guy I ran Delera's with the other day. "I wanna do a little role playing if you don't mind. I wanna pretend the necromancer has us trapped in a kind of time warp, and we can't really kill him--so we can keep repeating for xp." And to make matters worse, he had a slight lisp--I was dying of laughter!! 1 1/2 hours to do part 4...thank gods I only joined at the end of the series, I would have lost it long before then otherwise!!

I like silent shroud runs, ESPECIALLY PART 1, because I need to concentrate as hard as I can to hit the portals. I cannot be distracted at all or else I don't contribute at all to DPS because I miss the completely inanimate objects that have 1 AC and never move.
