Thumbs up 4 enhancements I would love to see in DDO

DDO is an extremely fun game! That being said I would like to see….

    1. Add titles. Basic level up titles would be cool (look at old D&D rule books for examples). Also titles for going up in rank with the different patrons would be sweet.

    2. For player using range weapons, give us a block attack. For example if I'm using a crossbow, while I'm blocking if I hit attack, let me do a butt stroke (go ahead and laugh) to an enemy, or with a bow let me hit like the enemy hunters do.

    3. For wizards: Add specialization at first level, and make sure to add wild magic as an option as well (wrong setting, but would be SOOOO sweet). Example: Attempt to cast magic missile, “poof” appear 500 feet above the market place (on a bad roll).

    4. Rework of current dungeons to be more like the new intro dungeons. I can’t tell you how much more fun it is to fight more monsters (that are a little tougher) then just the same amount of monsters that are (at times) ridiculously over powered.

It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the animosity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institution and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new.

The only thing I see that I like is titles, dont need wild magic and you can kind of specialize already through enhancements, and dont need the devs using time on old dungeons we need new dungeons of all levels not reworked old ones. as to the blocking with missle weapons mmh I dont care either way.

Uska d'Orien, I agree that enhancements let you specialize your wizard, but its not the same as actually specializing. The way specialization works is it lets you cast one more spell from the school that you are specialized in, but locks you out of two other schools of magic. It’s kind of like the cleric ability to cast cure spells in place of any other spell, and therefore getting one more spell then wizards do.

As far as reworking the dungeons, maybe they can bang out one every few weeks or something on the side. I would agree that new dungeons are needed more than fixing old ones, but I hope they make the new ones like the new intro missions.

I disagree with Uska d'Orien and Mekoehouve. Specializing refers to a school of magic like enchantment or illusion which is not possible in DDO besides using Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus feats. I would like to see the devs create a level 1 wizard class feat(s) that let you choose your specialized school and you prohibited schools.

Since spell casting is represented by spell points in DDO as opposed to spell slots in PnP, your 'extra' spells could mean that spells from your chosen school are reduce by 2-5 spell points while your prohibited schools cost an extra 4-7 points. (And yes, my enchanter would very like choose evocation as a prohibited school.) My reasoning for having a cost for prohibited schools greater than the savings for specialized schools is that in PnP you would not be allowed those spells at all, so the ability of casting them should come at a significant price.

Also, I would like to see some way to increase our caster levels. Practiced Caster and other feats for this would be a nice way to specialize. Also, an increased caster level for specialized schools would be a nice alternative to the suggestion I made above (too much of a deviation from PnP for my tastes).

And since you got me on the subject of spell casting:

    Cleric Domains;

I think domains can be represented well be spell clickie-like feats (think Dragon Marks). You would get 2 feats each time you got access to a new spell level. The two feats would share the same number of usage (most likely just 1 use). These feats would be determined by the domains the cleric selects at level 1.

The only problem with this suggestion I can think of would be that respecc'ing would be a nightmare.

I could tolerate devs working on the first three (although I am a bit unimpressed with the specialization one).

I could not tolerate any more reworks of lowbie dungeons.

Well they have already said that they are working on Wild mage as a PrE for wizards.

What does that have to do with changing your class to the Prestige Class?
