AGREED!! I would prefer 4 chests in zone 5 rather than zone 3. That would give us a fair amount of large ingredients needed. It would make more sense considering the upgrade path for a Para/Quasi/Special (Magma, Smoke, Radiance, Ash, Ooze, Mineral, Dust, Ice, Lightning, Vacuum, Salt, Steam, Tempered, Balance, Existential Stalemate) requires a combined shard / 2 imbued supreme shards. Or at least an npc where I can turn in 2 medium ingredients for 1 large ingredient of the same type.

They do drop the same, it's just you use more stones and scales in crafting than the other ingredients.

They do not drop the same for me. I have crafted alot...but a bit over a month ago I crafted my last dual shard item and was left with maybe 1 bone and a chain. In that time I have not imbued any shards and have around 20 of everything except scales, of which I have 10. If I was still in a crafting craze I would be feeling the pain like most. I have 6 capped toons and always run to completions. I almost always have a toon ready to run when a shroud pops up. Also a few of those scales I traded up to 4 large to get so that reduces the drop rate for scales a bit more...not sure how much exactly. Drop rate for scales has always sucked for me and it doesn't help when some of the best gear needs them. So in the end I run...run...run..but for the most part it's good times with peps I enjoy hanging out with.

Ok, but I am completely short Large Arrowheads and have 6 scales after cleaning out my bags last time. So following the same logic, I should be claiming that they need to nerf the scale drop rate and increase arrowheads?

Its random which means unless we had a huge sampling a single player cant possibly tell the drop rate.

All we know is that the Dev's have stated the drop rates are identical, and we know very well that the most common crafted items use scales/stones disproportionally.

A 3 to 1 ingredient trader would really make this moot. Just not sure that makes things more fun as its nice to have a premium item like Scales as it makes the game more interesting.

It seems for the most part I could pull scales as needed for whatever I needed to craft in the past. It was not until I was empty and had nothing left to build with current toons that I noticed the difference in drops to me. When I see that I am dead even on all ingredients except scales it makes me wonder if the mechanic for generating drops is random??

If you were talking about having 500 of each ingredient and only 50 scales, then maybe. But with numbers less than 10, its really way to small of a sample size to make any judgement on the drop rate...

I guess I will never know as I'm sure Mod 9 and beyond will make the Shroud yesterdays sauce....so 500 of each is not going to happen.

From what I understand (and can someone please confirm), if you run the shroud on elite, you can get larges from the part 3 chests.
