I just add them to friends and put a note like "idiot" or " party wiper" that usually sends up red flags for me.

Most of the excuses I saw in this thread involved noisy children. My father had a saying, "children should be seen and not heard". Sounds like some people should just log out for 10 minutes and get a belt, then come back and use their mics! Discipline these days is fleeting; don't be an enabler!

My father had a saying, too. He said that children are the house they come out of. My kids live in a house where they can be expressive, play musical instruments, play sports, and be kids. They are all healthy, well balanced, do well in school (three of the five do exceptionally well in school), happy, and generally excellent people to be around. I am exceptionally proud of all five of them.

So sorry, I will not beat my children to silence them so I can use a mic so you don't have to read. The farthest I will go in an attempt to assist you is to use small words in party chat, so that it will be as easy as possible for you.

Also, it was not an excuse. I do not excuse my behaviour to the likes of you. It was an explanation, which is different. But to be clear, I was offering insight as to why I don't use my mic, as opposed to attempting to excuse my behaviour by offering some sort of reason which I hoped you would find acceptable.

I could really care what you think about raising children, by the way. If you have some, I am concerned about them and hope that they will be able to grow up into good people.

While I hope he is kidding, and I am assuming he is, I can see where some people get this idea. Children, especially not your own, tend to be loud and destracting when you are enjoying your time- but that does not mean you beat them.

OTOH, if a child smashes a window, breaks into a house, sets it on fire, and tries to blame his brother, I think a beating is in order...but that may be too personal a reflection. Not sure what the beating would solve, but speaking from a brotherly perspective, it sure seemed like the just punishment at the time.

Unfortunately with a mic, this is just way to easy to say stuff that I shouldn't. Therefor, I abandoned using a mic to help curb the expression of my irate behavior.

For the most part, I think it has been successful. I am more apt to not respond in chat because by the time i type a reply, i have cooled off a bit (sorta like counting to 10). So i'll delete the reply and either just ignore it or seek clarification.

If I really need to get Boldrin's attention, I just send him a tell. usually, he'll see that. If not then, i spam it in CAPITALS till he does.

Sometimes using chat isnt necessarily about not using a mic but more about trying to curb bad behavior so you can get along w/ people better !!!!! ( or in my case appear to be less of an A##HOLE then I actually am).

Oh and yea, being 40 = way tough to break bad behavior/habits.

what if you have bought a mic hooked it up and when it didnt work so you took your computer to a computer store to find out that my sound card isnt capable with ddo even though if have the best sound card possible for this computer. my game play is fine i rarely lag and when i do so does the rest of the group so i know its not my computer. should i have to go by a new computer or sound card just so you can hear my voice.

I still prefer calling people out on their behavior in raids, it's fun for the entire family. And yes, it may take yu 30secs or a minute, but you can usually get my attention with tells,Is that why you run with me so much? I actually say the things you're keeping repressed
