i used to use voice chat, till my headset died
now i just use earphones for sound and typing out whatever i need to say. although apparently some people don't bothering reading the party chat when they have a mic

One must have a job to buy a cheap mic. Mine works intermitantly right now and eventually is going to go completely. So don't expect me to run to the store for a new one. Food is more important than a cheap mic. If you can't or won't read party chat that needed heal might not be there when ya need it.

Most of the excuses I saw in this thread involved noisy children. My father had a saying, "children should be seen and not heard". Sounds like some people should just log out for 10 minutes and get a belt, then come back and use their mics! Discipline these days is fleeting; don't be an enabler!

Tell that to child protection services.

I don't know how well this argument really works. Food is not only more important than a cheap mic, it is also more important than DDO or an internet connection or a computer...

Default Read the party chat folks

There are people (I've grouped w/ one) who do not have the ability to speak, but still play the game. And there are other people (I've grouped w/ one) who do not have the ability to hear, but still play the game.

Let the leader set the party's main method of communication and let the leader tell the party what to pay attention to.

I'll back you up on this.

Any party I am in, I can say in DDO chat "Can you hear me now?". 1/3 of the people will say "yes, loud and clear". 1/3 will say "you're a little soft". The other 1/3rd says "Strakeln, I saw your green light but didn't hear anything you said".

I speak in Teamspeak or Ventrillo and no one has a problem hearing me.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the problem does not lie in my mic or my settings. The problem very clearly lies in the DDO voice chat or select recipient's volume settings.

I dont get to start gaming until my wife and baby are asleep. It is bad enough that I have to have the computer up loud enough so that I can hear all of the coughing, feedback, and people with mics twice as loud as the other people.

Take the time to look at the party chat.

    Default I agree.

Too many need to learn how to read Party Chat.
Others need to buy a microphone.

Everyone is responsible for being aware of both.

i seriously don't think everyone is REQUIRED to have a mic
as long as they enable the voice chat option so they can hear :P
more like the people who do have mic need to remember that typing IS a valid way of communicating

I would report any raid leader for greifing if they completed the shroud without reading party chat to see if anyone typed that they want to leave beforehand... that's just not acceptable.

Especially if they had taken the DD and hadn't left the instance...
