    Default Empower spell

Does this effect my healing spells? Just curious cause when it's active it cost 15 more mana to cast Healing spells? Can someone explain, my extend spell doesn't effect this at all either, yet it doesn't add it's mana cost to each spell.. i'm confused..

Empower (50% boost, 15 more mana) does apply to your cure spells, but not heal spell(s). IE Cure XXX Wounds and Mass Cure XXX Wounds will empower, but not the actual Heal spell.

Empower Healing Spell (50% boost, 10 more mana) will apply to all cure/heal spells.

Difference: Empower works on any spell that allows a damage/energy boost (blade barrier, cometfall, poision, inflict line, etc), sans the actual Heal spell. Empower Healing Spell works on nothing except cure/heal spells.
Diplomacy: For when a fireball would just send the wrong message.

The metamagics only affect spells that they are capable of affecting. Maximize, Empower, Quicken, and Enlarge will all affect healing spells, along with Empower Healing.

Maximize and Empower dont work on the Lvl 6 heal spell but will work on all others lvl 1-5 and 7 and 8

Empower Heal works on all of them

FYI I have Empower and Empower heal on all the time

Also Quicken is your best friend unless u can get your concentration skill in the mid to high 30's

amen to the quicken Star with my first cleric i wasted a bunch of points on concentration only to fail constantly since have not wasted ne points on concentration at all except the first 4. you can not function in the high lvls without quicken imo. which has no concentration check at all so no brainer

The root difference is that EMPOWER feat is meant to increase VARIABLE damage by 50%. So any spell that involves a die roll for determining the effect (CLW, Blade Barrier, Soundburst, etc) would be Empowered, while a spell with a fixed value of effect like HEAL which does X/level of caster up to limit Y is not affected. That is why the OLD school D&D Stat spells could be EMPOWERED (to boost the d4 to d4*1.5) while the current version of Stat spells cannot since they are a fixed boost of 4 points.

    1) Concentration also help your scroll casting, while quicken has nothing to do about this.

    2) If you can make you concentration up to 30 ( full rank 19, Greater Heroism 4, 20 con give you 5, and then Head of Good furtunate give you 2 ), means you will not fail to cast (spell, scroll) while taking damage less than 30 point or less, plus the steady spellcasting 15 gear then your threshold will be 45 damage taken. Unless you are taking powerful spell hitting ( i.e. DFB ) here and there, or against red name, you probably fine if you have Heavy Fortification gear on your body. So yes, quicken is nice, but try not abandon your concentration.

hehe ya my cleric runs Quicken, Empower healign , empower spell, maximise spell, purty much all teh time.... it makes my MCMW spells basicly in to group heal spells already for 72 sp i think it is with my discount items...

Quicken is the BOMB on clerics once you get used to it you will never let it go...

Aye I dont suggest abodonign concentration be for one thing you will NOT runn quicken 100% of the tiem till capped levle 16 with good SP gear it gets exspesive...

Also quicken not onyl prevent intruption it also makes th spelsl cast MUCH faster ?IR heal is hti button look they are full hp, that one of the main reason i love it it alows me to be a much mroe reactive cleric and have my healign hit for full effect all the time.

Quicken makes playing a cleric easy (and in my opinion also mind numbing)...the only time I turn it on anymore with my healbot is during the initial trash clearout in part 2 of shroud.

Once you learn howto play a cleric without quicken (and still be effective), you will be a MUCH better cleric.

    Default Information for the OP

if u want to know what metamagic feats apply to which spells just do the following. open your character sheet. click on the spells tab. mouse over any spell, its full description will include what feats effect it.

furthermore, if you turn on all of your metamagic feats, you will either be charged the extra mana or not automatically, based on wheater or not the feat applies to the spell. in other words, if u turn on extend, empower, and maximize, then cast flamestrike, u will be charged an extra 40 sp (15 for empower, plus 25 for maximize) and extend will be ignored. if u then immediately follow that up with a blade barrier, u will be charged an extra 50 sp (15 + 25 + 10 for extend.)

i hope this makes things abundantly clear for you.

also, quicken is weaksauce. if your concentration is not above 30, your cleric is build wrong, or u r not wearing a concentration item. one of these problems is easier to fix than the other, but either way, it must be fixed.
