Is there any mention that Turbine will implement visable cloaks for mod 9? This would add a new cool look IMHO.

Sooooo, you're looking for more fluff from the game instead of playable content? How is being able to see a bed sheet hanging down your back going to make this game better?

Not really keen too see this until some sort of rigorous appearance altering system is implemented. Plus, the amount of effort it would take to code and animate leads me to think they do have better things to do.

I've seen the picture that proves this. *shakes head* Twisted sobs.
As much as I'd LIKE cloaks, I enjoy watching the backside of the armor too on certain gals. The cloak would get in the way (yeah we could insta toggle it I suppose, right?) But then we'd have a bunch of teases and hussies go'n around making me mad by turning it off and on.
It's a lot of new animation -- they probably would include this in a paid-for expansion, but not a mod.

I would love to see visible cloaks with a /cloak on/off command but I believe two years ago they said they wouldnt be doing any major work on graphics because atari isnt throwing any more money there way this is why monks where delayed almost a year and a half from origional date sloted and its why druid will be too.
Right now the budget is prolly tied into new spells and the druid class which last i heard is due out the mod 10.
what i want to know is why did the half orc race never come out ... that is yet another thing we need to get into the arts budget before we can work on visible cloaks ....
its still gonna take a lot more time before any special things get added just for looks.
while it might be cool I just dont ever ever see it happening.
Beware the Sleepeater
The venerable Dark Age of Camelot did cloaks REALLY well. The cloak looked nice but could be turned on or off at will. Additionally, the /hood command would put the hood up on your head or have it draped down your back. Finally, your guild leader could choose a logo and that logo would be displayed on your cloak if you desired. With the hood down, the hood partially covered the logo.
Very neat system that I think would be a great addition in to DDO. Believe it or not, how a character appears is sometimes more important to a player than how he performs.

Cloaks would add nothing to differentiate characters. We already have a homogenization of our armour and helm (remember when anyone who was capped wore minos legends... and 90% still do). Adding visible cloaks when 100% of casters wear the napkin (or are looking for one, or are too stupid to breathe because they don't realize how good it is), and 95% of everyone else has the generic red cloak of resistance, charisma, protection, or resist, is rather pointless.
Now sure a few would have the greensteel cloak. But the exceptions would almost ALWAYS have the greensteel cloak. There just aren't very many cloak styles, and most of those are named items that nobody in their right mind would ever wear in a quest (moss weave cloak is the only bright green cloak IIRC for example).

I'd be all for it as long as they were able to 'borrow' the code from LotRO to do it so that it doesn't take away much time from adding real features to the game. Inherently, I don't see how anyone would be against adding cloaks assuming you could turn them off.
