This build is in response to an inquiry from a friend I met in DDO tonight.
Level 16 Warforged Paladin Going for Knight of The Chalice Mod 9. and staying pure all the way to level 20 for the new
capstone.
Lawful Good of course lol. Uses Great-axes.
Starting stats: 16 str 8 dex 16 con 8 int 12 wis 14 char
Stats at 16: 28 str 10 dex 26 con 8 int 20 wis 24 char used a +2 tome for
every stat except intel
Put all level up points into strength.
Saves at 16 are 31 18 23 with Boots of The Innocent
Hit points at 16 are 444
Put all skill points at one per level lol into Diplomacy. Now I know
this isn't the most popular way to go, but there is times when it is very helpful. Diplo
is 42 atm with a +13 Diplo ring on.
Feats are: Extend which imo is A MUST in end game two handed
fighting, improved two handed fighting, greater two handed fighting, power attack,
and toughness. I figure with the two handed fighting and being WF, the
new glancing blow stuff should be really fun.
I have 4 Lay on Hands per rest, at 185 a piece. 8 smites per rest, which should increase
to 11 with Knight of The Chalice, and 11 uses of Divine Might per rest. Have Paladin Exalted Smite III-which grants +1 to
crit threat range on a great-axe-bringing the crit number down to 18 with Improved
crit range or Min II greataxe-Also, Exalted Smite grants +2 to the dmg multiplier,
bringing your critical roll to a plus 5! Exalted smites hit in the low six hundreds base
damage before all the other damages are added on. Finally, ES brings the cooldown
timer down to three seconds, which is great. Next, I have Divine Sacrifice II. This
deals 7d6 of light damage and increases my axes critical multiplier by one,
costing only 1 spell point and 5 hit points worth of sacrifice in return. DS hits in the
mid one hundreds per use base damage, before other type damages show up. about
150-160. Started this build out with great-swords, but decided to go with great-axes
towards end game. The great-sword was okay, and fit nicely with the Lord of The
Blades theme, but the great-axes swing animation is so much faster and does so much
more damage, it was nearly impossible not to take it. Went with Mineral II for Green
Steel great-axe weapon, with that being Positive-Earth-Positive-Earth. Current spell
points are 537. This is with a Green Steel item. The item is Great Commander Green
Steel gloves of Wizardry VI. This combo is only done to alter II, but I have plans to
go to alter III, and here is the formula: Air-Positive-Air-Positive. This gives the
extra spell points, and will give lightning storm guard, which should be very fun! =P
IMO, the extra spell points really compliment the extend feat used for the pally spells.
Spell selection is Lvl one: Virtue,+20 HP Divine Favor
+3 to hit, and Lion Heart Grants an ally immunity to
fear for 4 minutes. Lvl two: Resist energy 30 and angel
skin DR 5/evil. Lvl three: Dispel Magic, and magic circle of against
evil. Lvl four: Stalwart Pact very nice addition to the paladin, and
Zeal! ah the joy of zeal, thank you turbine +10% Sacred boost to attack
speed and last 4:00 at lvl 16 with extend! Enhancements purchased, which
require certain ones that qualify Gumlaw for Knight of The Chalice mod 9: Two ranks
of Paladin Courage of Good, two ranks of Divine Sacrifice, three ranks of Exalted Smite,
Three ranks of Lay on Hands, four ranks of paladin extra smite, three ranks of racial
toughness, two ranks of Paladin energy of the templar, two ranks of paladin charisma,
three ranks of paladin toughness, two ranks of Paladin divine might,
which requires a 16 BASE charisma, this includes starting stats, tomes, and level up
points into charisma. With a +4 tome this build could reach the next tier of divine
might, which requires an 18 BASE charisma. Two points of WF constitution, and
one rank of healers friend. Current items worn are Minos Legens, Con VI necklace,
Mummified bat or Bloodstone, Charisma VI cloak, Belt of Greater False Life, Diplo 13
ring, Green Steel Wiz VI gloves, Boots of The Innocent, Wisdom VI ring, Strength VI
bracers, Ice guard Docent of Greater fire resistance, and blindness ward goggles.
I plan to go for the Thrane goggles out of Von, and the healing
amplification +6 strength bracers out of the hound in the future.
Well I guess that's about it. This guy has been one of the best characters I have
played in DDO, and a lot of fun! The Warforged immunities mixed with the paladin immunities are incredible! I hope whoever tries this or
something similar enjoys it as much as I have. Also, I have not decided which way to go with the advanced
faith chains, and that is the last thing left to qualify for Knight of The Chalice for mod
9. I'm debating between the WF frenzy one, or the demon exorcist, which would go
along nicely with KoTC. Thanks for reading and take care .....Gum.
