    Default Game seems to stutter

My wife has a new laptop with Vista and a Nvidia go8200m. The detect optimal settings option puts the graphics at Very High (which bums me out, my desktop only gets High lol). It also has the option for DX10 but I decided not to keep that enabled after it seemed to be to much for the comp.

I'm trying to introduce her to the game but the stuttering screen is going to make that hard.

Is there any advice for getting the game to run more smoothly? Lowering the graphics didn't change the stuttering.

Are you connecting via a wireless connection? If so, try hooking her PC up to the router directly and see if that smooths it out.

It is on a wireless connection. I guess the optimal setting option doesn't take connection into consideration then.

I did notice a difference when I dropped the setting down to the very low. Before I only dropped it to medium.

I didn't expect the wireless connection to play that big of a part. We've not had that issue with the other mmorpgs we've played (Guild Wars and WoW).

I have a really sweet setup, a top of the line (last year top of the line) gaming specced computer hooked up to a 52 inch plasma TV. Recliner set up in front, drink table to my right, very nice.

I got my brother in law to set me up with wireless connection, and things went to ****. I hauled out the cable again, and it was great. He then started to talk about ping rates and stuff like that, I am sure someone could tell you all about the technical aspects, but basically wireless causes extreme lag, or at least makes the DDO standard lag issues a lot worse.

When I am out of town for work, I sometimes play on my laptop, but solo only as I got sick of groups getting frustrated with me because of my constant running in place. Again, that's attributable to the wireless hotel internet connection.

First, I want to thank all of you for responding.

Second, My desktop started to do it. I cleaned the cashe and restarted and it ran fine. Then I Alt-Tab it and when I clicked it again to maximized the game and it starts to stutter again. I decide well if Alt-Tab screwed it up maybe it'll fix it and it did lol.

Is anyone else having issues like this or is there something I can do to eliminate it? I never had this problem before I upgraded my desktop and my laptop runs it great with wireless.
