Default Favor Change Suggestion - Korthos

In Thinking about this I would like to make a suggestion.

Change the Favor of the Quests on Korthos (both the Village and the Island) to a new faction we will call Korthos rather than there existing wide spread factions they have now.

Set a new Faction reward for reaching 60 Favor of a +1 Flaming weapon of your choice. This would be a nice gift from the denizens of Korthos for solving their issues.

    Quests Max Favor
    The Collobrator 6
    The Cannith Crystal 6
    The Storehouse’s Secret 6
    Heyton’s Rest 6
    Stopping the Sahuagin 9
    Sacrifices 9
    Redemption 9
    Misery’s Peak 9
    Necromancer’s Doom 6
    Total 66

Absolutely not. Coin lord favor is the most important favor possible to a new player, that first extra backback spot is invaluable. We do not want to make it harder/slower to get that spot.

Besides, they can already get a MW flametouched weapon, all you are adding is +1 to hit and +2.5 to damage on a single weapon they will outgrow, hardly a good tradeoff for what they get.

Hum, You lose a Total of 24 Coin Lord Favor, out of 251 Total Coin Lord Favor. Not a big deal, IMHO.
i'd also argue that many players just do the minimum of what needs to be done in Korthos and move on. Or is thier another reason all those level 8 to 16 level characters are regularly running around Korthos?

Back when Favor was added to the game I would have been inclined to agree that the Backpack slot was very important however now with the the advent of Bags it is not such a big deal.

From a storyline perspective what does The Coin Lords (or any of the others) have to do with what is going on in Korthos. This also could be configured to introduce players to Favor and the importance of doing quests to elite.

But hey I think the system needs some work anyways, besides this.

    Just my two CP worth.

Well from a storyline prespective the small runs to help various members of the different favor houses gives you a slight hint at what lies ahead. Coin Lord favor is very important for the 4th backpack, it is often the difference between holding onto something or just selling and hoping you do not need it later. If you were to lose those 24 points, which quests would you have to run to make them up? Remember you are running these as a "new gyu" so you might not be twinked enough to knock off WW on elite all that easily. They probably want to have the character likely to have opened 75+ Coin Lord by 4th level or so, and if you do the quest run at level math, I am pretty sure that is where things line up.

High level characters running around Korthos 1) Filling in favor holes created by the new quests and those that went from solo only to S/N/H/E, 2) running enough to open Misery's Peak to grab one of the items (Archivists necklace with the 2 clickes of pnuemonic come to mind) or the quest for the goggles of Insight for the +1 hit bonus if you don't have better choices for the goggle slot, or 3) just to see what the new stuff looked like.

    Default favor

now that pluss 2 tome are so common,I have sold many that it makes the whole 1750 favor grind worthless imo.
something will have to be tweeked to make the grind even thinkable. i was thinking an extra ring slot would be sweet and ez to apply to existing full favor toons as well my 2 cp worth

Common for someone running end game with capped characters perhaps...not so common for the rest of the population.

You're reasoning is flawed in that you apparently assume any given batch of 24 Coin Lord favor is as easily gained as any other batch of 24 Coin Lord favor.

And for the record (not directed at you), the weapon is a masterwork ember weapon, not a masterwork flametouched weapon.

I also have to disagree. There are three reasons.

First, the backpack issue. The 4th packslot is really important for characters who are not being funded by higher level characters. It is often the difference between selling stuff at the bar or selling it at the brokers. The small collectable bag also fills up quite quickly, so it can be the difference between picking up collectables or throwing them away. It also can be important for long quests like Waterworks where you may end up having to ditch most of the loot. With all the cool stuff you pick up in Korthos, you get to Stormreach with more stuff than ever. Without the favor from the Korthos quests, you're looking at having to complete the entire Harbor on Elite including WW or the Harbor and WW and STK on normal or hard before you get that bag. I know I don't want to wait that long.

Second, What benefit yould you gain from 66 Korthos favor? I know you mentioned the weapon at 60, but usually we have the first level at 75. I suppose they could add 1 more 3/6/9 quest to bring it up to 75, but it doesn't seem likely that we'll end up going back and devoting 75 favor for something outgrown so quickly and can only be gained at the beginning of the game stikes me as very different from the favor rewards that we've gotten so far.

Finally, and most importantly, the record keeping would be a nightmare. The redone quests all give the same amount and type of favor as the original quest they were baesed on. If we changed things, we would either be giving the older characters more favor than newer characters, or we switch the favor for both quests. That may work, but remember the problems with favor not counting correctly when the quests were first added. It just seems to add a lot more potential for problems for very little benefit.

If you want them to give them a flaming weapon, I think it would be better implemented as a quest reward, kind of like the Misery's Peak reward. But the ember weapons strike me as pretty good. The main thing I would like to see is for the choices to match the wapon proficincies a little better and making sure everyone has a ranged weapon they can use. Maybe giving people another Ember weapon, from a full range of weapons would be a decent 1 time reward for completeing all the quests on Elite.
