    Default Proposal; Battle Cleric.

    After posting this in a 28pt suggestion thread, I though I might put this out to be considered by the player base.

    28Pt Proposal;

    After Leveling and Capping 12 toons on Thelanis I ran out of spaces to create toons. So;

    This is my first toon on Ghallanda so keep in mind Im starting from scratch, with the hopes of finding a +1Str +1Cha and +1Con tome by the time I work my way up to 16(fairly easy to buy off the Thelanis AH) and a +2Wis tome as my favor reward.

    He is currently level 4 and a blast to play. A very solo friendly build based on Divine casting with melee as support and Intimidate in the mid-high 40's unbuffed when Im done with him(Plenty for trash mobs IMO).

    Stats;

    Str; 15Base +1Tome +6Item and/or DP =22Str
    Dex; 8Base +6Item =14Dex
    Con; 13Base +1Tome +2Enh +6Item =22Con
    Int; 12Base
    Wis; 16Base +4Lvl +2Tome(Favor) +2Enh +6Item =30Wis
    Cha; 9base +1Tome +6Item =16Cha

    Hps;

    132Base
    96Con
    18Feat
    18Helm
    50Enhancement
    30GFL
    Total; 344Hps

    Intimidate;

    19Ranks
    3Cha
    13Item(Fairly easy to buy off the AH on Thelanis)
    1Enhancement
    2Luck(HogF or Recitation)
    3Crafted(Small and Medium ingredients are fairly easy to get IMO)
    Total; 41Unbuffed

    3Crafted
    2Item
    Total(With best gear setup); 46Unbuffed

    4Gh
    2Bard
    Total(Raid); 47/52 Intimidate.

    I like your build. Very simple, but yet very good at what it does. This is the sort of build all players when starting up on a new server should look to make.

    Character Name; Naive.

    And maddmatt, thanks. I wanted something simple I could solo alot(and reach 1750) since Im not in a guild and I tend to zerg ALOT although this build wont reach its solo capabilites until lvl 12 when he gets BB. He also bring alot to group play such as Intimidate and of course Healing.

    Your also right that this would be a great first build for alot of people to get a feel for the core abilities of the game Ie; Casting/Fighting/and Intimidating(Passive skills), while being viable at end game and not a 32pt toon, and not needing 6 +2 tomes at the get go.

    Solid build, of course.

    I just can't help thinking it might be made a touch stronger by going Rogue instead of Barb for UMD (self-teleport, GH, stoneskin, etc. is nice), Rogue Haste Boost (though runspeed is sweet) and the option of going 18c/2rog in endgame for Evasion.

    If I was going to do that Id have to change some stats around, because I dont think I could get away with 8 Dex for evasion. And although I agree the Rogue level(s) are nice for UMD, haste boost isnt needed for this build but rather the 10% base speed increase and the 40% boost both of which stack with haste.

    Also I get another 10hps from Barbarian enhancements for 1Ap, first level Rogues dont have much going for them enhancement wise except skill/haste boost.

    Here's a noob question. I was wondering how this build uses the three levels of dwarven shield mastery enhancements.

    Sorry for the crazy late response, but 2 reasons;

    1) Intimidate.

    2) Scroll Healing with Shield.

    Simple.. and effective.

    I would have gone with Fighter over Barbarian however for the Feat at the expense of two hit points at cap, fast movement, and mini rage.

    The Fighter feat would have given me Improved Critical; Slash or Power Attack, but I personally swear by sprint boost and the 10% base land speed bonus(I dont really even use the Rage, except at low levels). This Cleric is more designed for Blade Barriers than hack n' slash, thus I thought Barbarian would be the better choice.

    Great solid build.

    I can attest to the fun/utility of the barb level. I made a gimpy wf battle cleric (mostly to use the Bladesworn thing and get a 40 str boosted up), but the extra speed is super nice.

    My human cleric feel slow as molasses, but the 1 barb/cleric can zip around, and speed boost is crazy fun, and makes getting around that much faster levelling up way easier - I cant count the times running through town I use it just to get there that much faster....(the market still looks the same pretty much after 3 years - I dont need to sightsee).

    Trying to min/max with rogue levels or other stuff would be kind a waste if one of the goals is to get to 1750 favor anyway. A 32 point build is way better for those kind of multiclasses where you need like 4-5 high stats.

    13 levels of cleric and pretty much ANYTHING is useful usually. The build does what it needs to and has a lot of battle utility.

    It really depends on what I find, but most likley he will be S&B all the way to cap. Finding weapons like Carnifex will be useful for when 2hF is needed, but Levick's Defender and Lorrick's Champion sets are what Im looking for at our current endgame.

    I'm sorry to bug you again. I'm a returning player from WoW for the past 2 years and always enjoyed my cleric when I played DDO. He is gimped however and the time has come for me to roll a viable cleric for end game and the future as well. I have researched the forums and think your build would be perfect for the way I like playing. I have 32 points so I changed his stats a little. I made his wisdom 17 to start in anticipation for the next wisdom enhancement point to be made available at level 20. I also increased his constitution to 14 and kept his strength at 15. I have a few question I'd like to ask concerning your play with this toon.

    1. What will his AC be like and will you even want to intimidate at high level or will this mean certain death?
    2. What are your gear goals? (+5 mithril full plate?, etc)
    3. Will you be healing and tanking at the same time using Quicken and expecting other players to also take care of their own health bars? (guild runs of course)
    4. What will your healing spell rotation be? Will you heal with scrolls, wands, etc?

    Any other useful information will be great!!

    Ac;

    10Base
    2Dex
    13DT Fullplate
    5Protection
    7Shield
    4Insight
    2Ritual
    *3Ring

    Total Unbuffed; 46Ac

    2Recitation
    3Potion
    1Haste

    Total Self-Buffed; 52Ac

    5Paladin
    2Ranger
    4Bard

    Total Raid Buffed; 63Ac

    *Not sure if I have room for the Chattering Ring yet or not.

    I know the Ac isnt very impressive, but this character is not built around Ac. Quickend Heal will allow you to intimidate almost any trash mob at end game without worrying about dying. The plus is, if done right, you wont need to heal alot of your fellow group members because the mobs will focus on you.

    Eventually,

    Helm; Mineral2 45Hp/Con Skills
    Necklace; Lorrick's Necklace
    Trinket; HoGF(w/ Ritual)
    Cloak; Cha6
    Belt; GFL
    Ring 1; Intimidate +13/15
    Gloves; Str6/Bramble Casters
    Boots; 30% Striding
    Ring 2; Tumbleweed
    Bracers; Bracers of the Glacier
    Goggles; Concoordiant Opposistion 300Sp/Cha +5 Skills

    Main Hand; Acid/Good Burst/Insight +4, Min2 and Wisdom +9, Earth2
    Shield; Lorrick's Champion

    DT Fullplate; Resistance 5/Con6/Radiance Guard

    There are always going to be situations where you can depend on other party member to take care of themselves and you tend to loosen up playing a Cleric. Durring that time I would like to see myself in the thick of things but Im always wary of my members "red" bars. This Cleric however, is built more for Blade Barriers rather than fighting toe-to-toe because of a mediocre Ac and a less than desireable DPS output. Meleeing for this build(personally) is a last resort when out of and/or conserving mana while in group play and soloing.

    The same as a normal healing Cleric, MCMW and MCLW if the prior is on timer for large groups with the occasional spot Heal.

    I just started this char after rejoining the game on a new account, and he's about to hit 3, I was curious though, I assume groups at endgame will assume my role to be healing/support/off-dps, which is fine, I expected that. How many clerics do you actually see trying to offtank?

    This isn't much of an issue tbh, I rolled it for the same reason you initially did.. to hit high amounts of favor to better my latter chars.

    Oh yeah, and the character is working out beautifully. Me and my wife (Pure Paladin) are grouping together and we're about to take them through Waterworks upon hitting 3. The only thing we've had any trouble at all with was duoing The Kobolds' New Ringleader on Normal, because the Ogre at the end one-shot her (41 HP). We ran back through and I tanked the 2nd time around (61 HP) and took him down no problem.

    Very few, unless they have their mind set to it. This build will probably only melee;
    • Situations where he is trying to conserve mana.
    • Party is self sufficient.
    • Soloing.

    But depending on how much you want to melee with this build, Im sure you could squeeze alot more into it if you wanted.

    Glad you like it! And yeah, those Ogres in WW part 4 are nasty. Goodluck!
