    Ouch.

Here's to a speedy and complete recovery (from both physical injuries and from being badly shaken up like that).

Yeouch... with that as hsi only reply.. you'd better be getting some compensation. I know way to many people that would sue over that one. And win.

I'm glad you are safe and mostly unharmed.

i live in chapel hill, and theres been two death by public transportation incidents in the past 1-2 years. you'd be surprised the long list of driving violations some of the drivers have, yet still get to haul around 30++ people all day long.

just be happy to be alive ^^

It appears you missed your Dex check...

Call a lawyer if you are serious about getting compensation.

Glad to hear you are OK.

When I got off my bus tonight, my ankle got caught in the back doors. It was trapped such that I couldn't wrench it free. I was punching the window, yelling at the driver to stop, as the bus started to pull away.

One hundred feet I hopped alongside the bus, all the while yelling and punching.

Finally it stopped. My voice was hoarse, my knuckles scraped, my ankle sore. The back doors opened, and I re-entered and screamed at the driver. I got off and walked to the front of the bus, continuing to yell. I was scared, really, because I honestly thought I was about to lose my life. There wasn't anything to grab onto so that the bus could carry me away; I saw myself dragged and torn to shreds.

The driver looks at me and says, "I checked the back doors . . ." I not so politely reminded him that manners dictate an apology before his un-sympathetic, and only, comment.

I wrote down his bus number, went home and filed an online report, as the offices were closed. We'll see what kind of response I get.

Two hours later, my heart is still in my throat. My woman is at work, and I just felt like letting it out.

you should have filed a police report and got witness statements to add to the polices report from the bus as well as people who were on the street.

You should admit yourself to the hospital immediatly.

you can still have a friend or lawyer travel the bus route asking passengers if they witnessed the accident...you only need to find 2 people really but more is better.

This bus ride could get you up to $100,000.00

because you left under your own power the city will say you were not hurt that badly. You dont know how much damage was done to your ankle...... what you call a twist or sprain could become torn ligaments 6 months from now. The differance is that if it does get worse in a few months you will pay out your own pocket unless you get a doctor to run a full set of tests right now.

Any money you spend treating this injury today will be recovered by easily with a competant lawyer who will take his fee from your settlement as well and still leave you 100 grand easily.

    - the city is at fault because the bus was unsafe. better mirrors, an exterior safety bar to hold onto, a sensor to detect doorjams (it could have just as easily been a students backpack strap..... and maybe a shield on the rear wheels to keep you from going under them.

    - the driver is at fault because he failed to ensure that the sides of the bus were clear before he moved. people love to run along side buses in an effort to stop the driver so they can get on...they can be hit very easily. He failed to hear the bus being pounded and possibly ignored the passengers who did try to alert him of the situation.

I hope you are well but dont make your own diagnosis and assume that you are. I know us toughguys like to say "Im fine" but if your condition worsens because you failed to let someone trained examine you.... noone is gunna help you with your bills when u cant work.

Default First off fellow Los Angeles person...

I'm glad you survived...not saying all right due to potential post injury issues....

Okay DO file a police report ASAP and GET A LAWYER dealing in Personal Injury...this time you chased the bus and they didn't chase the ambulance

    Back to more seriousness......

remember as you posted about your event...you described that state then as in SHOCK and you might not have been fully aware of your actions due to the TRAMUA (both pysical and shock based emotional.....if this is not a non-war post tramatic potential event, I don't know what is short of severing body parts!) Anybody after that who confronts the bus head on is in an emnotional high stress area caused seemingly by both this event and the non-responsibility!

Write down or record (voice, video, etc) as MUCH detail as you can factually remember and/or get. Do make sure an investigator is used (most of the time, regulars DO use the route and time of busses like I do when doing the bus with my monthly pass on MTA.)

And ask as many questions as you can before hiring the lawyer and when they offer decisions.

Just like anybody else, get and confirm references. Many take a percentage around 25-33% instead of a fee. This actually is fair if the settlement is big...don't let them trick you into paying the fees if you get nothing or a very little amount...or work out a retainer and NEVER believe the billable hours!

Be careful what you wish for, what you say is best; for sometimes what you seek is found, not at the end of the quest.
