Officially, DDO needs Windows XP, but I see no technical reason why it shouldn't work on Windows 2000. Have you tried manually downloading and installing the latest Direct X runtime, as well as the latest .NET runtime?

I've been running DDO on Windows 2000 since the game started, and very rarely have any problems. Sure the client crashes once every week or two, but that seems to happen to just about everyone.

All done with Completionist (again) and Epic Completionist. First character to 30 on Sarlona* (before the rollback).

You could try running DXdiag but unless you know all the right version numbers it might not make perfect sense. Note: If you're getting past the launcher fine then it's probably more likely to be directx since only the launcher uses .Net.

To be honest, you might be better off redownloading the files. Here for DirectX runtime.

Make sure you're running the latest video drivers too. Drivers for your card are here.

    Good luck

Your computer is a Business Lan computer and I believe it has one AGP slotx4/x8
Why are you using a PCI card that is much slower then AGP.

    Code:

    ---------------------
    Sound Capture Devices
    ---------------------
    Description: Sound Blaster Audigy
    Default Sound Capture: Yes
    Default Voice Capture: Yes
    Driver Name: P17.sys
    Driver Version: 5.12.0001.0608 (English)
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    Date and Size: 3/17/2006 16:10:00, 1163264 bytes
    Cap Flags: 0x0
    Format Flags: 0x0

    Description: SoundMAX Digital Audio
    Default Sound Capture: No
    Default Voice Capture: No
    Driver Name: smwdm.sys
    Driver Version: 5.12.0001.3025 (English)
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    Date and Size: 5/14/2001 13:46:14, 422984 bytes
    Cap Flags: 0x0
    Format Flags: 0x0
Go into your Bois and turn off, onboard Audio, If you are not using the soundblaster then remove the sound blaster.

I was going to say update your drivers, but when I found your drivers on gateway the newest drivers for your computer, was 2002, 7 years ago.

Name: MDP3880-W(U) PCI Modem- If you are not using dial up, you dont need this, and can be removed

Now, after looking at your DXdiag, and I know you dont want to hear this but, I dont think you will be able to play DDO on that computer. The computer is so outdated for current games, I dont think you could even get XP running correctly, in fact if you dont already have xp, dont get it, PLEASE dont get it for this computer. That hundred dollars could be used to get a fairly decent computer from Walmart that would run circles around your current computer.

Your memory is only PC133 133 Mhz, the cheapest computer at Walmart has 2gigs 667 MHz, and that computer is a dell and cost 428.00.

You have to understand im not saying this to be mean, I wish I could help ya, but in computer terms your computer is beyond help, and you should no longer put money into it.

Example would be car. well your computer(car) has 400,000 miles on it in computer terms, you would be better putting money down the drain, then to up grade.

Any money You would like to put into it save and buy a new computer, save yourself the headache in a year when you will not be able to do anything else on it excpect use it to log into the internet.

Well, I am kinda sorry to be so blunt.

Alot of people think that once they get a computer and pay a good fortune for one at that, it should last, just like a good TV. The problem with computers that is not true and one of main reasons is a Law called Moore's Law.

Moore's law states that every two years, the number of transitors will double given the same amount of space and the same can be said of most electronic equipment in general. So, even a computer thats two years old will in some ways be showing its age with new programs. A good example of this law is Harddrives density.

When your computer was new, i believe 2001, the biggest harddrive was 180gigs, but most were in the 20 to 40 gig range. 4 years later that number was about 500gigs, and 3 years after that, we are looking at harddrive in the 1.5 tera range(1500gigs), and they are cheaper then the harddrives that were selling back in 2001.
