You cant say sword and board is more efficient in any way at this point, only thing is they might have 450 hp insteada the 400 the 2wfing rangers have. Sword and Board to me should be have an ac higher than 2wf or 2hf, and a sword and board toon that wants a high ac has to sacrifice his to hit to keep his ac climbing. so to me what is agrivating is Sword and Board i have to work at it to get my ac higher the rangers get ac improved just by taking Tempest. So they get more Dps and an AC that shouldnt match. to me there needs to be something done to help out the sword and board folks to improve the balance a bit. More Dps should equal lower ac not higher.... I dont wanna take anything away from rangers, I just wnat to see some love given to fighters so that they can resume being versatile insteada bein limited to a lesser class as i feel they now are. Now if u dont build an Intimitank with uber ac whats the point in being a figher, but alas maybe im missing something here..
This is another valid point from a completely different perspective than my own. I want a pure fighter who is a dual wield specialist; I am willing to sacrifice everything else in order to achieve that goal, but apparantly the ranger can keep up with me without the sacrifice. At the same time, this poster wants a high AC build and he's willing to sacrifice some dps to get it, but now the rangers are getting the shield AC boost and not sacrificing anything.

It really is killing the fighter class to have these gross imbalances. The fighter should be the epitamy of what all other classes hope to achieve in their chosen non magic combat role. It's not like my 2 weapon fighter has feats to spare by taking figher class over ranger class. Greater Focus and Specialization for example aren't much better than having favored enemies, and that's 4 feats right there. The fighter enhancements are WAY behind, and that's even after the new Kensai line is added.

So just a quick question: does that mean the bonus from Two Weapon Defense is not a shield bonus in DDO? Because if it is, it seems a useless feat in conjunction with Tempest...

For sure, I have said all along that the Tempest PrE is a lame excuse for the PrC its stealing the name from. The Tempest PrC is not deadlocked to Rangers, and I have seen Fighter builds that put Ranger Tempests to shame. This is weak, and just another reason that the entire enhancement system should be trashed/deleted and we be given more Core Feats, and PrCs for real.

In DDO: Two Weapon Defense is a +1 Dodge bonus to AC.

In P&P: Two Weapon Defense, Improved Two Weapon Defense, Greater Two Weapon Defense all stack to a +3 Shield AC bonus. The 3.5 version of the Tempest grants an untyped +1/+2/+3 AC bonus while dual weilding.

Turbine probably chose to change the bonus to a shield bonus for ease of coding. (Stacking rules are already in place for shield bonuses.)
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

It wasn't innate to the job, but Warrior in FFXI was dominated by TWF for years. Warrior/Ninja with dual axes.

Fighter in D&D, however, has always been intended to be a combat master for whichever style of combat they choose to specialize in, excluding magical, of course.

Do the three 10% melee speeds stack with each other? Or is it just one 10% bonus for all three?

So with Tempest III, is it a 30% increase or 10%?

It's 10%. This thread would be 100,000 pages long by now if it was 30%. 10% is plenty.

30% would be truly insane as then a 20 ranger would have 30% melee and 25% ranged who would want to play much else?

DDO compendium still lists Two Weapon Defense as a shield bonus, so I sure hope it stacks with tempest (if not thats preety dumb for tier 3 to require it). Personally I am not going OTWF, as I dont like the look of twin rapiers, and would prefer twin kukris anyway, with an extra 1 ac.

P.S. Superior TWF will add only 1 attack to the 5th attack animation. You will barely notice this increase if at all, it will not overpower TWF rangers. The attack speed increase is/will be available to 20fighters and pallies anyway as well.

Ok I tried to find a post that knew if Rangers get 1 or 2 more attacks from STWF, but is seem from what I'v found we only get 1 more, so it seems odd we only get 1 more attack with tempest III when it says attacks.

    Anyone know?
