External ads on load screens

Why doesn't Turbine sell ad space on load screens to other companies? I realize you'd prefer to put in ads for your own products, but you gain no benefit from me seeing an ad for a quest pack I already own. And anybody who doesn't own a given quest pack is likely to seek out info from other players on which packs are good to buy rather than relying on info from your splash screens.

Argh, no! I pay for the game, I don't want to see bloody adverts in it, even on loading screens.

Put more into the game

What's the harm in that? As long as it's kept legit (Don't extend load screens for them), why not throw small sponsor ads in the corner of the screen while you keep your own load screens in as normal.

Anyone remember what happened last time that outside ads were used for "supporting the game"?

Lets just say, it did not end well.

Technically, there are ads on this forum and many others. The key difference is I can disable those, as they seldom have anything to do with what I'm doing on those forums.

Turbine doesn't have the pull companies like Blizzard or EA do to pull very prominent labels for ridiculous ad campaigns.

And I'm quite thankful for that.

It keeps the game level-headed for me and a place where I want play, rather than pimping it out and turning it into the cesspool of mediocrity (cough WoW cough).

would cheapen the game experience, but i would rather have more quests faster than less slower :/

They are advertising their own game. Just because you own a quest pack doesn't mean everyone else does. Further, why would they advertise something other than their own game given that its revenue is (largely) micro-transaction based. It makes perfect sense to me that they advertise what's on sale in their own store rather than someone else's store.

No thank you. I am all for them hyping their own products but i do not want random adds shoved down my throat every load screen. That would be to much. If i wanted that i would watch tv more often...

I'd probably just delete the advertisement splash screens after they downloaded and inserted my own splash screens back, providing the way the advertisements are filed remains the same.

If it's 'in game' it would be more than advertising, it would be an endorsement.

Now, what they should be doing is trying to sell me t-shirts, cups, books, audio-books and other related items that Turbine has some ownership of. I own all the packs, so I don't need to see anything else.
