    Default Welcome!!

Welcome to the game and to Khyber!! I too am a 2nd edition pnp player who never got into 3rd edition rules, so know where you are coming from. We were all puggers at one point or another and you tend to find people with and without your mindset while pugging. Even those of us from alpha and beta were puggers once, and to tell you the truth, I still pug sometimes after all this time You can look me up on any of my characters if you need any help, always willing to help out with advice or lowbie gear, and if I don't know what you are trying to find out, I know people who do

One thing you'll find out about Khyber bud, we are dramatic, we are opinionated, but we are also quite generous and helpful.. of course not everyone, but overall, I wouldn't want to be anywhere but here, you picked a good home. I think you'll like it here, just never be afraid to ask questions.

Yeah I just remember that back when the game was new you have different people all the time and pugging meant going outside you guild/circle. Now you see the same people over and over. It is nice to see the population coming back a bit. But pugging is just not the same as it was when I first started.

    got it. thanks again.
As for the male/female char choice - no biggie. There are a few folks that will tease ya a bit about it, but it makes no difference in game to most players I've run across.
i got some funny looks way back when i first created the charecter for AD&D, but the funny looks stopped around 7th level when i threatend to squich the thief like a grape if he didnt knock it off. lol.

thank you, and salutations to you saaluta! it took me a while to figure out how they hacked up the ac calculations, but i caught on. i was thinking with the armor i was wearing and the dex bonus, i should have been in the -2 ac range, but i was running around in with a seven or something. i thought for sure i was goblin meat. im glad they got rid of the comeliness attribute, but they replaced it with some other things ... like fortitude and a couple of other things that i have to figure out still. comeleness wasnt all that bad i guess, as it gave you an extra die roll for attributes resulting in a better chance at anouther higher roll of the dice. overall ... im extreamly impressed with the way they ported over the pencil and paper version to the modern electronic age. very nice indeed. and with the numer of people playing, the options are impressive. for example, you have your smash and grabs, and those that like permadeth, and those that get into the mindset of the old days of playing your charecter in full midevil banter. a little for everone.

sounds like a typical online experiance. when you interact with different people from all around the world, you find all kinds. im pretty well versed in online interaction via message boards, im sure most of the same principles apply to the gaming experiance. ive already witness some of the drama here on the ddo forums. lol.

picked? my boat was destroyed by a friggen dragon ... left me stranded here. your stuck with me now. lol.

thanks for that info! ive been finding most what i need in the faq's, and my old buddy helped me out with a couple of things too, but were usually on at different times. the forums here are helpful, but i got a couple of questions i still cant find an answer to ...

with a wand of healing, i figured out how to use it on myself, but i cant seem to heal anybody else. i put it in my main hand then clicked on my buddy, then double clicked the wand and it healed me. do i need to use the "use" button in the window with the description of my buddy?

i have a free feat exchange but i dont know how to use it. i seen the lady in the harbour, then visited fred and he gave me a free feat exchange. when i visit fred now, a window appears with three different abilities on the left side, with tools to move them to the right side (and visa versa), but there is nothing in the right window and none of the tools function. even after highlighting one of the feats on the left. im thinking that maybe it has something to do with my class (paladin) because i know from ad&d that the class restrictions are pretty strict. not sure though, because i see paladin/theives (or rouges if thats politically correct) and other paladin classes. weird. that was a big no no when i was playing.

and the last question from me for the day ... rumor is circulating in the market place that there is a tavern that can only be accessed by falling from the spire??? would you know anything about that?

The easiest way to use a wand is to drag the icon down onto your hotbar. Click it once to equip the wand. Then using backspace (default) to target or click on the person you want to heal, then click the icon on the hotbar again.

Wands seem to work more smoothly when they are placed on the hotbar.

Feat token is used when you want to exchange a feat you have already picked for another one. The feats you have show in the left hand panel the ones available for exchange show in the right side. Not all feats can be exchanged like granted class ones. Also you must meet the prereqs for that feat in order to swap it.

It gets tricky. If you have for example a feat you picked at lvl 1 that you want to swap out you have to change it for another feat you WOULD have had access to at lvl 1 and not something that was not available to you at that time.

I hope I wasnt too confusing.

ill just have to keep checking back with fred till i get it figured out, but you were most helpful.

I wouldnt worry about it unless there is a feat that you really want to get rid of. Fred is for feat respecs. Out of the 10 chars I have only one has ever used his services.

Not sure about that one, but there is a place where you can buy potions and scrolls that is only accessible by teleport, it's called "The Portable Hole". It only has arcane stuff though, not divine. If you can't use teleport scrolls, sometimes you can get a nice person to help you by asking in general chat. Also, you have the fortune of being on the only server that has a player run shop, Qwijymart. I always search for Gtar in the market near the mailbox for cheap scrolls and pots, with his haggle skill buying from him saves me loads of plat

As for your question about what to do once a char hits capped level....well, it depends. I've chosen to go back and pick up all the favor available...the OCD side of me says I must do it all!! Not to mention, you need 1750 favor on one character to open up 32 point builds (and unlock another character slot?). Some people use their capped toons to grind quests for items/cash (shroud is probably the biggest one for the ability to craft items). And then there's always the idea that you've done one, now it's time to do it again with a different build. The game never seems to get boring to me...even if I've done a quest a million times, all it takes is a different character in a different group to see what new challenges can be opened up. I also enjoy running chars through quests that they're not high enough level for to see how far I can get...even if it means a whole party wipe (just make sure the rest of the group knows it's probably gonna happen and don't mind!!).

I don't know what time you plan to play at (I tend to be an after 9 PM, PST player as I run more on Aussie times), but feel free to look my chars up to run with, I'm always up for company
