The sheild is also +3 -1 = 2 due to skill penalty. Not really worth it.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

Penalty only applies to physical skills.

Skill penalties dont really apply that way. They effect things like jump, tumble etc, not haggle.

Correct, Haggle is not affected by Armor Check Penalty. See http://ddowiki.com/page/Armor_check_penalty for the exact list.

    Lets see.

    49 Charisma

    18 base, 2 tome, 5 level, 6 item, 3 exceptional, 1 human, 3 bard, 2 capstone, 2 ship shrine, 3 house D pot, 2 yugo pot, 2 store pot

    19 charisma mod
    23 ranks
    15 item
    6 shroud
    5 human versatility boost
    4 enhancements
    3 skill focus
    2 negotiator
    2 Luck
    1 past life feat bard
    _____________
80 standing with charisma stat buffs

    4 greater heroism
    1 focusing chant
    5 House K ship buff
3 Medium Gem of haggling (med guild augment slot on necklace)
    3 House D skill pot
    _____________
    96 self buffed

2 Bard song (from my other acct)
2 monk buff (also from other acct)
    ____________
    100

Unfortunately I had to use a store pot and a cha shrine purchased from the store ( though a guildie purchased) The cha shrine has a saboteur who keeps replacing it so I decided to take the screenie last night. When I eventually get a seal for the Von ring that will give me +1. Another +1 can come from using lotd, but I need a +3 tome for that to have any effect, then I'll need to slot luck on an epic item ( I would like to use the robe from von cuz it looks pimp, but amazingly I havent pulled it yet).

So although it is self buffed for me, it may not be for everyone. That said, 96 is fairly straight forward without other player buffs.

This was originally a drow 18 bard/2 rogue. It was the first alt I capped on my second acct a few years ago. Truly a gimp'd bard. I think my haggle was in the 70's. I tr'd mostly for an alt I could enjoy playing more. I have more hp with this alt (can break 500 without haggle gear on and if I actually decided to craft a hp item) a decent str to use 2 handers, and of course killer buffs. She can also heal fairly decent in a pinch. CC would be much better if I devoted a few item slots to it, but I havent mostly due to having too many alts that have taken priority.

The house D pots I farm for the collectables with trs or in the sub if I get low, and some people on the server send me some. I also use them on my intimitank so I try to keep a good supply. That said I usually only use them when buying thousands of scrolls. I try to keep her fairly light in inventory (several pages clear where my other alts are lucky to have a page) so if I raid with her I usually have to run to the bank to grab some gear. That doesnt happen a ton as I have 2 other bards as well. This allows me to drop any loot I get onto her using the trade window saving me mail $. A typical trip to the weapons broker usually yields 100k pp or so with a haggle usually in the 90's somewhere.

Edit::Coincidentally at 99 haggle a stack of 100 heal scrolls costs 9999 plat lmao.

Nice breakdown, looks similar to my TR'd queen.

Probably the game itself is your saboteur. Our store-purchased level 2 navigator kept reverting to the non-store purchased level 1 navigator. Reported to a GM and they said we need to let everything on the ship expire at once to un-bug the ship. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.

Fun question: What can the Queen look forward to with the upcoming release of Update 8?

Looking to make a Bard, and the Queen has been in my sights for a while.

EDIT: How important is it for the Queen to be human? Is a Dwarven Queen a viable option for this build?

First, may I ask what the haggle is for the queen nekkid and unbuffed at 20? Also, what is her charisma score at that point? Please note if that value includes the bard active past life feat. I will explain why I ask when I get an answer.

In response to the previous post. For maximum haggle, the queen build MUST be human for the human versatility enhancement. Therefore, clearly, a dwarf wouldn't work. However, you may be interested in my future thoughts.

Current version of the Queen at level 20 has 30 CHA and 42 Haggle after nomming on a +2 CHA tome. No tome would be 28 CHA and 41 Haggle at 20. No past life feats, either.

The idea of a Dwarven Queen was due to... "something else." I forgot about the Human Versatility Enhancement, so thanks for mentioning that.

    Thumbs up

    Hi,

First, thanks for the write-up for this build! I'm thinking about leveling a character for muling purposes - need bank slots, vet status toons are not enough! Then why not a haggle bard to make some cash as well?

My question here would be, how feasible is to add the new Dragonmarks of Finding feats to this build? And replacing which feats? I want to test the Greater Dragonmark of Finding. I realize 3 feats on such a feat starved class is a lot, and will gimp the character. But Im looking mostly for the item storage/haggle and an occasional chest improvement mostly for quests, Im not sure how helpful he will be on a raid.

    Thanks!

Drop SF: Haggle, Negotiator, and one other (maybe spell pen) to fit in the DMs.

    You're welcome.

Hmm the Dragonmarks of Finding. My opi is I just cant recommend this line of dragonmarks. Like most of the dragonmarks this looks to be no where near worth the opportunity cost to take it.... yes, even on a haggle bard.

If you insist on trying them, then i agree with Valindria on which feats to drop.

I've only been playing a month (well, early) and I'm already giving serious thought to doing this build, but I wonder... how playable is this bard through all the levelling-up stages? Do you contribute well to a party 1-20? Are there blank spots in utility, or is a group pleased to have you at any level?

I play as much as I can, but I don't have sufficient DDO time to level a character *purely* for Haggling, so this is very important to me

    Thanks in advance!

This toon is great at crowd control and healing. DPS is an afterthought, more for defensive or clutch DPS. A "traditional hagglebot" is designed more for guild utility and/or for your own personal stockpile. If you had limited time to play, I wouldnt recommend a hagglebard in this vein.

I'd recommend a build like my Genghis Khan build, or one of the other solid warchanter bard builds out there. They are more a "total package", and are incredibly fun to play. For my Genghis build, just transfer some skill points to maxing out haggle and boom done! Hit points and damage are awesome, and cc and healing become effective later in the build.

Thanks for the advice! I'll exercise my Google-fu and take a look at Genghis; do you still realise most of the shopping benefits by going that route?

You definitely will get many similar benefits that Mississippee gets. For me, I took no haggle at all for obvious reasons, I buy/sell with Mississippee!

Just remember to max the haggle skills. Drop some of the other skills. Do NOT drop a point out of UMD however. If you want some more clues, ask that here please.
