Default New Sorcerer PrE's ... what can we expect?

Sorcerer: Air Savant, Cold Savant, Earth Savant, Fire Savant
I am new and wondered what others thought?

Now that Turbine has hinted at some of the PrE's for some of the classes (some are already in the game), a question has been raised about the apparent lack of diversity/play style that may be available for Sorcerer's.

    What does everybody think?
What do you hope this means? What do you think will be the tangible differences between them (if any?)?
Do you think this means Sorcerers who wish to take one of the PrE's will really be no different than other PrE spec sorcs of a different flavor?

What or how would you like to see Turbine implement this line for Sorc's?

What advice and feedback would you tell Turbine on this PrE (remember, at this point we know absolutely NOTHING about how this will play out except the names. The names would imply that there will be little real difference between flavors and that they will most likely be nukers).

I for one hope that they plan on offering something with a little more diversity between my sorc and others sorcs. Something more than just I use fire, he uses acid... meh.

It seems that certain classes get alot more variety in their PrE's. but then again, some of the PrE's that they DO already offer never get played anyhow because they ear not practical in the DDO universe.

How are PrE's for Sorc's handled in DnD 3.5 or 4.0? What other PrE's are their besides elementalists??

Any advice or opinion is welcome.
Tell Turbine what you hope they will do with this PrE. Remember from previous experience with Turbine, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Turbine, Please feel free to clarify this for the benefit of a lot of players. Any input you can offer would help.

    Default Once again...

Heyas CK1, first - I hope the new year finds you and your family well and they don't get in the way of you playing your DDO

Second - I believe you have it all wrong. When they say Savant, I think they are more in line with Dustin Hoffman's Rainman character. As in, your Sorc will be stumbling around Stormreach mumbling things like 'Definately 5 minutes to Reaver timer being done...', 'AH prices suck...' and screaming when he feels his personal space is being violated.

But once IN the quest, if you are a Fire Savant, your Sorc will be in his element, able to know if the firewall he just threw is a crit and for how damage it will do BEFORE the dice is ROLLED!!!.

Not to mention, that when the group is all huddled around the chest looting, you can stand there and count their toothpicks...

And ONCE in awhile, you can have the star and lead the group in circles as you will be the one driving...

I'm going to guess that they will all have some similar abilities (some bonus damage when casting a spell from the element to which the sorcerer is dedicated, or an SP discount or higher DCs), but will also have different abilities based on type. Perhaps Earthy sorcs will gain more DR out of stoneskin, while air-sorcs will be granted a higher miss % from things like blur?

I'll also guess that they will all have at least one unique ability.

Yea this sounds about right, I doubt they'd shaft that meny ppl as there a ton of sorcs, I'd say there just making wizzys more on par with sorcs.

Planning to roll a wizzy now.
They will have something that realy makes them different and worth playing over a sorc.

You mean like full spell selection and bonus meta magics? I'm glad they are adding a little more variety between the classes, but wizards are definitely worth playing, I'm tired of people acting like wizards are just gimp sorcerers.

But if they give elemental substitution with the savants then its going to be sick! Wall of Lightning FTW

But they are gimped sorcs hehe /Wink.

Nah I like wizzys just prefer sorc over wizzy for mana as its easyer to have enough mana to heal your self as a WF caster, plus its easyer to get a good umd.

If I wanted a good wizzy atm I'd roll drow/humen over WF as you get better DC's and more mana.

And yes a lightning Wall would rock.
