Best movies of 2008 are.......

I think I only saw about 5 new movies this year, but only 2 worthy of a best-of list:

Iron Man - good dialogue, acting and humanizing plot elements, and the armour was spectacular. Coolest looking suit since Boba Fett.
Dark Knight - very intricate movie, I needed to watch it twice to catch everything, Ledger was mesmerizing, I savoured every inflection. Bale was probably on par with Keanu Reaves .. very utilitarian but no real acting going on.

I've been telling friends the Dark Knight & Iron Man were the best & second best movies of the year for months. You have to admit, theater sales figures do tend to tell a story and The Dark Knight is far and away above every other movie in 2008. I really can't wrap my head around why some didn't like it.

The latest Indiana Jones was a decent movie but didn't really deserve the sales it earned...I'd felt it mainly got that on momentum based on prior movies in the series. It was a handoff with a mediocre story that seemed to fail because whats-his-name-transformer-boi is a no talent hack next to Ford.

Probably good films but never saw
