Dont let YOUR firewalls touch MY firewalls!

OK, So im in a SR pug on my 16 Sorc. There are several clerics and 3 arcanes. Quest starts and one of the other Sorcs say "whoever is casting firewall dot let them touch my firewalls!". I ask, if he for sure knows which firewall was his and if he's sure that a couple of his firewalls might not have touched. He gets annoyed and makes some crappy comment about how I'm such a smart and clever person(thick sarcasm of coarse). So for the remainder of the quest I try very hard not to touch his firewalls with mine, all the time stewing about what an anal loser you have to be to gripe about firewall placement in SR.

So have I missed something here? I could have sworn that the 100+ other SR raids ive been on, you fill up the 7 oclock spot with firewalls to cook the air elementals. Now I do understand that firewalls dont stack. But, if you are charged and keep spamming them in that one little area, the strongest one does the damage right? So, instead of laying down 1 firewall and standing there untill is burns out and you cast another, wouldnt the ideal way be to keep spamming them, 4 or so in a row and let them cook? I cast and make sure mine dont touch and I can still get 4-5 in that area. If all the arcanes casters are doing this, my opinion is that you will end up with several criting firewalls doing huge damage.

This dude must have truly believed that he was the only Sorc playing on Khyber that is speced for fire. You would have to be pretty ignorant to think that your 16 sorc throws a meaner firewall than the OPs 16 Sorc if you are both speced for fire and max charisma. And if not, the stronger does the damage so how does this affect your firewalls? Are you carrying the Greater Superior Fire Lore item that increases damage by 80%? No dude. Do you have the Extreme Maxamize feat that increases damage to 3 times? No dude lol.

So i was busy all yeserday and night, but have had plenty of time to think about this and debate if im in the wrong or not. So if you guys could please continue in your Khyber flaming ways and put me in my place, or reassure me that there are really just people out there that anal, I would really appreciate it!

Next time just throw up an acid fog, solid fog, and mind fog on top of his firewalls (the key being acid fog). Then spam your firewalls all over the place, and let him try to stumble his way around..... While he's trying to see through the fogs trying to figure out which firewall is which, he'll most likely end up in the middle and get thrown up into the spikes..

maybe said sorc misunderstands the workings of the firewall..? Maybe he thinks that if they overlap it will be cancelled? At least i hope this is the case. Otherwise i can't think of any other reason to be an anal jackarse.

You're a more patient sorc then I for sure. I'd have given him the suckitupbuttercup and laced the area with fire. As long as damage is being dealt, who cares who deals it?

why stack the firewalls, let him do it and u can spam fireballs and grab the kills. seriously, sometimes its good to do something different. with unlimited sp in SR who cares about mana efficiency. spam coc, fb or other AOEs. there is more than 1 way to play

From what I've seen, its not the most powerful firewall that stays active, its just the last cast... You could have a crazy crit go up as a 16 caster...then some level 8 casts theirs over yours, sure enough, the level 8 takes precedence (sp?).

This is just from what I've seen happen as I leveled my wiz up.

this is correct based on my recollection. but like others said, he probably was unaware of how firewalls work. if he's played a cleric he may have thought overlapping ones got cancelled a la bb. i would have asked him why. if he continued being assinine then i would have done as others have said and cover the area in fog, cover up his walls, or just break enchantment everything he casts.

To make sure that Firewalls do not touch use Break Enchantment it fixes the problem straight away.
