    Default Expanded Crafting Ideas

I was trying to think of new items that could be crafted by us and my train of thought ran away with the idea.

    - Allow casters to create their own scrolls. Using collectables, gems, and other "useless" items to make our own scrolls.
    - Take away the scroll vendors. This would limit how many scrolls people are carrying and make it so that if you found a heal scroll or raise dead, they are that much more valuable. .
    - This would force mobs, bosses etc to return back to a more "reasonable" level of HP because of the limited healing now available to us. With everyones HP reduced, wounders and puncturers are not as powerful since it would be quicker to dps than con damage. Wounders/Puncturers would just reduce fort saves on mobs opening them up insta kill spells

    - Allow everyone to craft potions. Potion recipes from collectables, gems, etc.
    - Maybe Rangers make better Barksin pots than Rogues. Barbarians make better rage pots than fighters. Rogues, neutralize poisons, etc.
    - Collectables would be sought after prized rather than shunned and scorned as taking up inventory space. Collectable bags do help, but still get full and take up precious inventory space.

    - The crafting of wands opened up to people with UMD, or those who can cast the spells naturally.
    - Wands could be considered stacks of scrolls pots. Tired of crafting stacks of heal or raise dead. Make a wand. The number of charges would be a random roll with a plus modifier based on your casting stat (Wis, Int, Cha)
    - UMD users could use the number of ranks in UMD as their modifier.

Just a few brainstorming ideas. Some of my suggestions require a severe overhaul of some game mechanics and reductions of a lot of things. If that is not a possibility I think the idea is still good with a slight tweak.

    - Allow us to craft those items with collectables, gems, etc but at higher caster levels than can be found in game. (Heal Pots, Barkskin pots +5, PK scrolls level 15, etc)
    - Allow us to make scrolls for level 9 spells or the next highest spell level, after level cap increase. (Mass Heal etc.)

    Creating scrolls? Great idea!

Creating scroll AND removing Scroll vendors? BAD idea!

    Why?

It creates a situation where You would be "forced" to make at least one caster to supply the rest of Your characters, or pay whatever people would charge on the auction house.

Don't get Me wrong, I'd love to see it happen, but there are many problems I see:

Is it a "skill" and do We need to put skill points into it? If so, most would need to reroll *shudder*.

Is it an enhancement line? Many are stretched thin on AP as it is..........

Making Scrolls and Potions would need alot of planning to make sure it wasn't abused in some way. But it would be very cool...........

They should have made vendor scrolls exclusive, but it too late, the game is balanced for them, they'd have to fix a lot without them

Scrolls aren't responsible for this, but that would be a long reply indeed

Absolutely not, that's as far from D&D as you could possibly get. Only casters can create magic

    Good idea? No
    Bad idea? Yes
Revisions?Allow crafting with the use of the Crafting feat, and since MMO loves like grinding, fine, using collectables, but only for casters as per D&D rules.

Don't remove anything currently in the game...that is an unfair nerf that would affect everyone unequally.

But, I love the crafting idea. Make those that have the ability to craft the scrolls or wands or rings or potions do so in such a way that they are much superior to those that you can buy. A cure serious pot vs. a crafted Heal (as spell) potion, a remove curse potion vs. a prevent curse potion...that kind of thing.

Combining crafting with removal from vendors brings up some interesting revenue opportunities.

Is it a "skill" and do We need to put skill points into it? If so, most would need to reroll *shudder*. No skill required, no feat required. I would make it act much like the Eldritch rituals. Add ingredients, stir, let simmer for 15 minutes and serve.

Is it an enhancement line? Many are stretched thin on AP as it is..........
Again no Enhancements or AP required.

    Agreed.
Would like to see crafting expanded to other things, than just upgrades.
